MAIN DUTIES
The 1 Kitchen Host is responsible for warmly welcoming and assisting guests, managing seating and reservations, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, and supporting the service team to ensure a smooth and memorable dining experience. The role also involves answering menu questions, accommodating guest requests and dietary needs, and maintaining high standards of hospitality, service, and food safety.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Warmly greet, welcome, and seat guests while managing reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, table assignments, and wait times to ensure a smooth and welcoming dining experience.
- Present menus and maintain thorough knowledge of food and beverage offerings, ingredients, preparation methods, daily specials, dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests.
- Manage and confirm reservations, monitor bookings, answer phone calls, and respond to guest inquiries and requests with professionalism and discretion.
- Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready tables, menus, lobby, and service areas while supporting efficient table turnover and overall restaurant operations.
- Coordinate closely with servers, culinary teams, and leadership to facilitate smooth service, assist with special occasions and seating preferences, and support opening, closing, events, and high-volume periods.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - High school diploma or GED required. 1–2 years of experience in a restaurant, hotel, hospitality, or guest-facing role preferred. Experience in a fine dining restaurant is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain organized, calm, and professional in a fast-paced environment while effectively multitasking and maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Experience with OpenTable, SevenRooms, or similar reservation systems is an asset.
- Valid Ontario Smart Serve certification required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Fluency in an additional language is an asset.
