Original job description
We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate level Windows Server Support Consultant to help install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server as well as Azure and intel servers on-premise and cloud. Act as a crucial link in maintaining high uptime for business-critical applications, enterprise directories, and hybrid cloud resources.
This is a 1 year contract position to start, plus extensions, to work onsite in Regina.
Core Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (e.g., Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025).
- Manage Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and user access permissions.
- Apply routine security patches, OS updates, and vulnerability remediation to harden systems against threats.
- Resolve L1/L2 escalated support tickets, performance bottlenecks, storage issues, and service failures.
- Execute and validate server backups, failover procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
- Administer virtualized server infrastructures using VMware vSphere/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V, alongside hybrid cloud tools like Microsoft Azure.
- Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine deployments, health checks, and reporting.
- Document system architecture, troubleshooting steps, change logs, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 2 to 4+ years of hands-on Windows Server administration in an enterprise or hybrid environment.
- knowledge of Windows Server OS, DNS, DHCP, DFS, File/Print services, and TCP/IP networking.
- Virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V).
- Scripting and automation via PowerShell.
- Enterprise management and monitoring tools (e.g., SCCM/MECM, Sysinternals, or APM tools).
- Certifications (Preferred): Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, MCSE, MCSA, VMware VCP, or CompTIA Security+. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills, teamwork, and clear written/verbal communication.
