Data Modeling & Reporting Co-op Student

Granite Homes is looking for a motivated, analytical, and tech-savvy B Data Modeling & Reporting Co-op Student  to join our team!

Working closely with our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Finance, and Operations teams, you'll have the opportunity to help modernize how we use data to make business decisions.

In this role, you'll support the transition of existing Excel-based reporting into a more automated and interactive business intelligence (BI) environment, potentially using Power BI. You'll also help develop dashboards, streamline reporting processes, and turn financial and operational data into meaningful insights.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and exploring technology to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic real estate development and construction environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assist with transitioning existing Excel-based reports into a modern business intelligence platform, such as Power BI.
• Develop and enhance interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for Finance, Operations, and senior leadership.
• Work with data from our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to understand how information is structured, connected, and used.
• Support the development of automated reporting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with the CFO and other team members to understand reporting needs and translate them into practical BI solutions.
• Troubleshoot data connections, reporting inconsistencies, and other data-related challenges.
• Document reporting processes, data sources, and dashboard functionality to support ongoing use and future improvements.
• Contribute ideas and recommendations to continuously improve how we collect, analyze, and present business information.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a student who is curious, detail-oriented, and excited about using technology and data to solve real business challenges.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with formulas, large datasets, and connected reporting.
• Exposure to Power BI or similar business intelligence and data visualization tools is preferred.
• Basic understanding of databases, data relationships, and how information flows between business systems.
• Familiarity with SQL, data queries, or data modeling would be an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and present complex information in a clear, easy-to-understand format.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine interest in improving business processes through technology.
