Original job description

As a community-owned service co-operative dedicated to providing exceptional communications and entertainment services and unique opportunities for local expression, Access Communications is proud to work with the people of Saskatchewan. As a key member of the Marketing team, the Supervisor, Marketing is responsible for helping deliver on the objectives within the strategic marketing plan for the organization. Serves as the subject matter expert in marketing-related activities through various channels with the objective of increasing brand equity and driving long-term profitable sales.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Marketing Planning and Execution

Develop, recommend, and/or implement department operational plans in alignment with corporate strategic plans.
Develops and promotes branding initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives through market research, competitive analysis, and other means.
Initiates research, development, and implementation of new marketing programs for Commercial Business and Residential products, working collaboratively with the internal Marketing team and third-party creative and media agencies to develop and execute effective marketing initiatives, including direct mail, corporate sales, Internet marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, sales tools, and other initiatives.
Oversee the development and implementation of marketing plans for specific products and services, including AccessNow.
Monitors and manages the Marketing department budget, including identifying budget and purchasing requirements; monitors expenses against budget allocations and reports on variances.
Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities to enhance marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
Monitors emerging marketing trends and technologies; assess their potential impact on the company’s marketing strategies and makes recommendations accordingly.
Collaborates cross-departmentally with senior leaders and teams across the organization, including Sales, Community Engagement, Communications, Regional Management, IT, Finance, Human Resources, and other departments, to align marketing initiatives with broader company objectives.

2. Brand and Campaign Management

Collaborates with creative teams (designers, writers, editors) to develop a creative platform and implement marketing programs and promotional materials to increase awareness, build relationships, and advance the brand.
Ensures all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity; conducts ongoing brand management.
Monitors, evaluates, and reports on competitor activities; makes recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.
Develops and delivers awareness and communication campaigns on new products and promotions for all staff.
Advises on the selection of and maintains effective working relationships with external agencies, vendors, contractors, writers, designers, and other partners supporting marketing, product, brand, and revenue objectives.
Prepares and delivers reports on the status of marketing programs and initiatives.
Designs and attends relevant trade show and convention appearances to build relationships and promote the organization’s initiatives.
Manages and optimizes digital marketing channels (e.g., social media, SEO/SEM, email marketing) to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
Leverages analytics and data insights to measure and optimize the performance of marketing campaigns.

3. Customer Insights and Market Segmentation

Conducts and analyzes customer research to gain insights into demographics, psychographics, and behaviors, ensuring marketing efforts are tailored effectively.
Develops targeted marketing strategies based on customer segmentation to drive engagement and conversion.

4. Team Leadership and Development

Demonstrates leadership and builds first-rate teams; maintains an inclusive and positive organizational culture in a highly competitive business environment and establishes staff priorities and workflow aligned with departmental and organizational plans.
Monitors and manages team member performance; aligns employee performance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives, providing regular feedback and coaching to enhance performance.
Develops and tracks individual and team performance metrics; ensures team members are working towards meeting or exceeding set goals and objectives.
Communicates consistently with all team members; shares organizational goals, objectives, and results.
Collaborates with HR to recruit, develop, and coach team members; ensures resources are in place to meet short and long-term business requirements and deliver exceptional customer/member value.
Handles employee relations issues in conjunction with HR and the Senior Manager; applies disciplinary procedures if required.
Ensures compliance with collective agreements, corporate policies, human rights and labor requirements, and occupational health and safety requirements; provides appropriate training and supports injury prevention, accommodation, and return-to-work processes in conjunction with Human Resources and the Senior Manager.

5. Operational and Other Responsibilities

Manages attendance at trade shows, including coordinating resources, personnel, and equipment.
Participates in business meetings, provides reports, and makes presentations to the leadership team as required.
Acts as an ambassador for the organization at work-related functions, events, and within the community, and builds appropriate relationships with community and government stakeholders.
Adheres to corporate policies and procedures; demonstrates professionalism and upholds organizational values.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education -

An undergraduate degree in business with a major in Marketing or related post-secondary education.

Experience – Level: 5 years

Five years successful work experience working in a similar capacity with strong community-based connections.
A minimum of two years successful experience leading a team.

COMPETENCIES / SKILLS:

Marketing and Brand Management – Strong knowledge of brand building and management, with experience developing and executing integrated multi-channel marketing programs, including digital, social media, SEO and traditional channels.
Strategic and Analytical Thinking – Uses customer, market, competitive and campaign information to identify opportunities, assess results and improve marketing strategies and initiatives. Applies sound judgment and problem-solving in a competitive environment.
Creative and Digital Capability – Understanding of graphic design, website management and digital marketing practices, with the ability to effectively guide creative development and digital execution.
Project Management and Execution – Plans and manages multiple marketing programs, campaigns and projects, establishes priorities and timelines, coordinates resources and follows through to achieve quality results.
Relationship Management and Communication – Builds effective relationships with internal stakeholders, agencies, vendors and business partners. Communicates clearly and effectively with diverse audiences and represents the organization professionally.
Team Leadership – Provides clear direction and expectations, coaches and develops employees, manages performance and builds an inclusive, collaborative and accountable team.
Innovation and Adaptability – Identifies practical opportunities to improve marketing programs and processes, brings forward new ideas and adapts effectively to changing customer needs, market conditions, priorities and organizational change.
Technology and Industry Knowledge – Proficient with Microsoft Office and relevant marketing, digital and analytical technologies. Knowledge of the telecommunications industry is an asset.
