Job Title: Core Java Developer – Apache Spark & Python

Location: Montreal, QC

Work Model: Hybrid

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with 7–12+ years of experience, with strong Core Java and backend development, Must have 3+ years of Apache Spark and Python, strong SQL/Linux skills, and experience building distributed data-processing/analytical applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable server-side applications using Core Java and Python.
Develop and optimize large-scale data processing applications using Apache Spark.
Design and implement data processing solutions for high-volume and complex datasets.
Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and database solutions.
Integrate analytical platforms and data processing systems with enterprise applications.
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
Apply strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and multithreading.
Troubleshoot application, data processing, and system performance issues.
Work extensively in Linux/Unix environments for application deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
Participate in application architecture, technical design, and code reviews.
Collaborate with business analysts, architects, data engineers, QA teams, and other stakeholders.
Follow coding standards, security practices, design principles, and software development best practices.
Support CI/CD pipelines, application releases, and overall application lifecycle management.
Contribute to improving application scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience in Core Java development.
Proven experience working with Apache Spark for distributed data processing.
Strong development experience with Python.
Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
Solid working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
Experience developing server-side applications and microservices.
Experience designing and integrating analytical and data processing systems.
Strong understanding of:

Performance Optimization
Hands-on experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem and related big-data technologies.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Experience in Financial Services or Capital Markets is a plus.
