Job Title: Sr. Accounting / IFRS 17 Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON
Work Model: Onsite – 4 Days per Week
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting / IFRS 17 Analyst with strong knowledge of IFRS 17 accounting standards, insurance financial reporting, and data reconciliation. The successful candidate will support the implementation and maintenance of IFRS 17 accounting policies, validate financial data and system outputs, and prepare accurate financial analysis and reporting.
The ideal candidate will work closely with Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams to ensure compliance with IFRS 17 requirements, maintain data accuracy, and support internal and external audit activities.
Key Responsibilities
•
Interpret, implement, and maintain IFRS 17 accounting policies and reporting requirements.
•
Support IFRS 17 measurement models, including General Measurement Model (GMM), Variable Fee Approach (VFA), and Premium Allocation Approach (PAA).
•
Analyze and validate key IFRS 17 components, including Contractual Service Margin (CSM) and Risk Adjustment (RA).
•
Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Actuarial teams to validate data inputs, calculations, and outputs from IFRS 17 systems and engines.
•
Perform data reconciliation, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data.
•
Prepare financial analysis, variance analysis, and periodic reporting for management and other stakeholders.
•
Support financial close, IFRS 17 reporting, and the preparation of audit documentation.
•
Assist with the maintenance and improvement of accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
•
Leverage advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities to analyze financial data, reconcile results, and prepare reports.
•
Work with ERP systems and specialized IFRS 17 accounting and reporting tools to support financial operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
•
Proven experience or strong working knowledge of IFRS 17 standards and insurance accounting.
•
Understanding of IFRS 17 measurement approaches, including GMM, VFA, and PAA.
•
Knowledge of CSM, Risk Adjustment, and IFRS 17 financial reporting concepts.
•
Strong experience in data reconciliation, financial data validation, and discrepancy resolution.
•
Experience preparing financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis.
•
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial data analysis and reconciliation.
•
Familiarity with ERP systems and IFRS 17 accounting or reporting platforms.
•
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
•
Ability to collaborate effectively with Finance, IT, Actuarial, and other business stakeholders.
Good to Have
•
Actuarial knowledge or experience working closely with actuarial teams.
•
Experience with IFRS 17 implementation, system testing, or financial reporting transformation.
•
Exposure to insurance financial systems and automated accounting processes.
•
Experience supporting internal and external audits.
