The Client Service Manager is responsible for delivering profitable growth for assigned clients by achieving revenue, margin, and key performance objectives.
This role manages a complex client business and serves as the primary liaison between the client and internal teams, ensuring successful execution of programs, achievement of business objectives, and delivery of strategic recommendations that drive growth.
Success in this role requires strong account management, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and support client decision-making
Responsibilities
- Own revenue, margin, and key performance objectives for assigned client accounts.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a trusted business partner.
- Develop and execute client business plans to achieve growth objectives.
- Analyze sales, POS, retail, and field execution data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Lead client business reviews and present performance results and strategic recommendations to client leadership.
- Partner with Field Managers and Sales Teams to drive execution of promotions, displays, distribution goals, and retail standards.
- Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve client objectives without direct reporting authority.
- Manage promotional funding, trade spend, retail incentive programs, and associated budgets.
- Monitor business performance and implement action plans to improve sales results, operational effectiveness, and profitability.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely execution of programs, reporting, and client deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in Client Services, Account Management, Sales, Category Management, Retail Operations, or Field Sales Leadership.
- Experience managing retail, grocery, mass, drug, convenience, CPG, or other consumer-product accounts and channels.
- Experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry preferred; comparable experience in retail-focused industries such as pharmacy, hardware, home improvement, or other consumer-product environments will also be considered.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver measurable business results.
- Experience presenting business reviews, insights, recommendations, and performance results to senior client stakeholders.
- Experience managing or supporting trade spend, promotional budgets, retail incentive programs, or customer marketing investments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and performance data, identify trends, uncover growth opportunities, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing, manipulating, and reporting business performance data.
- Experience using reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Nielsen, Circana, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive accountability across teams without direct authority.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Ability to travel as required within assigned markets.
- Ability to work in retail store environments and lift up to 30 lbs (13.6 kg).
