Position Overview

The Mechanical Designer will support the design and development of mechanical systems and components for complex industrial applications. This role is responsible for creating high-quality mechanical designs and drawings using 3D CAD and analysis tools while supporting projects through the full product lifecycle, from concept development and prototyping to testing and production.

Responsibilities

Support the full mechanical design lifecycle, including requirements definition, concept development, detailed design, prototyping, testing, and production release.
Produce detailed mechanical designs, models, and drawings for components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
Review and validate engineering drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
Apply mechanical engineering principles, including structural, dynamic, and fatigue analysis, to support product development.
Support prototype procurement, assembly, and testing activities.
Participate in design verification and qualification testing to ensure products meet performance requirements.
Design mechanical components and assemblies for demanding operating environments.
Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, weight, performance, and reliability.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to resolve design challenges and support product delivery.
Develop and track project metrics related to design performance and effectiveness.
Apply drafting standards, engineering specifications, and industry best practices throughout the design process.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product design and development.
Work effectively within cross-functional teams throughout all project phases.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of mechanical design or mechanical engineering experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience using 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
Minimum 3 years of experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
Experience taking products from concept through prototype, testing, and manufacturing.
Strong proficiency in creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), including structural and fatigue analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Science, or a related engineering discipline.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including stress, dynamics, fatigue, and structural analysis.
Experience applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience designing sheet metal, machined, and welded components.
Knowledge of machine design principles and mechanical systems.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting prototype-to-production development programs.
Familiarity with vibration and shock analysis and design considerations.
Experience designing equipment for harsh operating environments.
Additional experience with advanced CAD platforms and engineering analysis tools.
Strong understanding of drafting standards and engineering documentation.
High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality designs.
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Interest in participating throughout the complete product development lifecycle, from concept to production.

Work Environment

Hybrid work arrangement with a combination of office and remote work.
