Job Title: Senior Manager, Contracts
Job Description
An organization delivering a major capital infrastructure project is seeking a Senior Manager, Contracts to provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle. This position is responsible for developing contracting strategies, managing commercial risk, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring successful delivery of large and complex EPCM and EPC projects. This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial leader to play a key role in shaping project outcomes while working closely with executive stakeholders, project teams, contractors, and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement contract and procurement strategies that align with project objectives.
- Define contract packaging approaches, tendering plans, governance processes, and risk allocation methodologies.
- Lead the full contract formation process, including RFP development, bid evaluations, negotiations, and award recommendations.
- Support procurement and project teams in selecting the best commercial solutions.
- Oversee contract administration activities throughout project execution.
- Manage contract changes, claims, variations, and compliance requirements.
- Identify commercial risks related to scope, market conditions, contractor performance, and cost escalation.
- Develop mitigation strategies to reduce commercial exposure and protect project objectives.
- Build strong working relationships with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations for complex commercial agreements and resolve issues before they escalate into disputes.
- Provide trusted commercial guidance to project leadership and owner representatives.
- Mentor and develop a contracts and commercial management team.
- Establish best practices, governance processes, and performance expectations.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
Essential Skills
- 10+ years of experience in contracts, commercial management, or procurement on major capital projects.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing commercial or contracts teams.
- Demonstrated experience supporting projects valued at $500M+, with exposure to billion-dollar programs considered a strong asset.
- Industry experience within infrastructure, energy, mining, industrial, utilities, or oil and gas sectors.
- Thorough understanding of EPC and EPCM project delivery models.
- Expertise in commercial strategy, contract negotiations, procurement, and risk management.
- Experience administering standard contract forms such as FIDIC, NEC, and CCDC.
- Proven ability to manage complex contractor relationships, claims, and commercial disputes.

Work Environment
Work out of the Markham Office for 40 hours per week, with a hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. This role offers the chance to work on large-scale, high-profile capital projects, influencing project outcomes at the executive level. The environment supports complex negotiations with Tier 1 contractors and the opportunity to build and shape a high-performing commercial team.

This is a Permanent position based out of Markham, ON.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $185000.00 - $225000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
