Job Summary

Distech is in a period of strong growth and transformation. This creates opportunities to build capabilities, improve processes and help shape the future of our manufacturing operations.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who is energised by change, enjoys solving operational challenges and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Focus Factory Manager is responsible for leading all manufacturing activities within the assigned business unit while ensuring strong performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity.

The role is responsible for developing a high-performing organisation capable of supporting business growth through operational excellence, process discipline, continuous improvement and leadership development.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Operational & Team Leadership: Lead daily manufacturing activities to achieve SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) targets and establish accountability via KPIs. Build a high-performing, inclusive culture, develop leaders, and drive structured problem-solving in alignment with Acuity’s values.

Capacity & Growth: Develop workforce and capacity strategies, identify constraints, and optimize facilities to increase operational capacity and support future expansion.

Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing, establish visual/standardized processes, and use data-driven decision-making to drive improvements in quality, productivity, and cost.

NPI & Change Management: Partner cross-functionally (Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, HR, etc.) to ensure successful New Product Introductions (NPI) and manufacturing readiness. Lead operational transformations and drive the adoption of new systems and technologies.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 8–10 years of progressive leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Skills: Proven success in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, cross-functional project management, and driving operational transformation/growth.
Language Requirement: Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position to effectively communicate with clients, partners, and colleagues who are predominantly located outside of Quebec.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Preferred: Hands-on experience supporting facility expansions, significant capacity increases, and New Product Introduction (NPI).

We value diversity and are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regards to race, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ethnicity or national origin, disability, pregnancy, religion, covered veteran status, protected genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Accommodation for Applicants with Disabilities: As an equal opportunity employer, Acuity Brands is committed to providing reasonable accommodations in its application process for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans. If you have difficulty using our online system due to a disability and need an accommodation, you may contact us at (770) 922-9000, select option 4. Please clearly indicate what type of accommodation you are requesting and for what requisition.

Any unsolicited resumes sent to Acuity Inc. from a third party, such as an Agency recruiter, including unsolicited resumes sent to an Acuity Inc. mailing address, fax machine or email address, directly to Acuity Inc. employees, or to Acuity Inc. resume database will be considered Acuity Inc. property. Acuity Inc. will NOT pay a fee for any placement resulting from the receipt of an unsolicited resume.

The requirement for another language is necessary for this position in order to communicate with clients, partners, and colleagues who are predominantly located outside of Quebec. The company has very few clients in Quebec and therefore must constantly use another language to communicate outside of Quebec

Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues and suppliers in Quebec as necessary. French-language training is offered to all incumbents in permanent positions in Quebec who do not have a good knowledge of French.

Acuity Inc. will consider any candidate for whom an Agency has submitted an unsolicited resume to have been referred by the Agency free of any charges or fees. This includes any Agency that is an approved/engaged vendor but does not have the appropriate approvals to be engaged on a search.
