Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM + Overtime
Night Shift: Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM + Overtime
About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the CNC Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and monitoring Mazak and Haas CNC lathes while producing high-quality machined components. The successful candidate will work from production orders, drawings, and specifications to manufacture parts accurately and efficiently, ensuring customer requirements and production deadlines are met.
Responsibilities
- Interpret production orders, part specifications, material requirements, drawings, and related documentation.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining of components.
- Set up, operate, and monitor Mazak and Haas CNC lathes in a safe and efficient manner.
- Modify and troubleshoot machine programs during production runs as required.
- Utilize measuring instruments, gauges, and inspection tools to verify product quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Manufacture routine, complex, and custom components from raw materials according to specifications.
- Complete and update production orders, routers, and related documentation accurately.
- Understand and follow the sequence of operations required for production orders.
- Record labour time, scan router operations, enter production quantities, and consume materials using the Blue Terminal system.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and pallet jacks to move materials and finished products throughout the facility.
- Handle materials and equipment carefully to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
- Prioritize workloads and complete assigned work orders within established deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including routine machine housekeeping.
- Report equipment, quality, safety, or maintenance concerns to the Plant Supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to support production goals and on-time delivery.
Qualifications
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Minimum 2 years of CNC lathe machining experience.
- Experience operating Mazak and/or Haas CNC lathes preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- CNC Machinist or CNC Operator certification/ticket is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments and quality inspection tools.
- General knowledge of manufacturing processes within the oil and gas industry is an asset.
- Understanding of safe work practices, quality assurance standards, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing shop environment in Nisku, Alberta.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and working around machinery.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on the shop floor.
- Regular lifting of materials and components up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
- Overtime may be required based on production demands.
