This role ensures E&I work is planned, integrated, and executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
Working closely with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Maintenance, Turnaround, Commissioning, and contractor teams, the Coordinator will drive execution readiness, resolve field constraints, support integrated planning activities, and ensure successful turnover and commissioning of systems.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate daily E&I construction activities between contractors, engineering, operations, maintenance, commissioning, and project stakeholders.
- Ensure E&I work is execution-ready and aligned with project schedules, turnaround requirements, turnover milestones, and operational priorities.
- Provide visible field leadership while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Verify work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, standards, permits, and execution plans.
- Identify and resolve field constraints impacting safety, quality, productivity, cost, and schedule.
- Support Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), CWP/IWP development, Integrated Readiness processes, and Path of Construction planning.
- Participate in constructability reviews, model reviews, field walkdowns, and planning sessions.
- Coordinate interfaces between electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, insulation, and scaffolding disciplines.
Electrical Construction
- Coordinate installation of electrical equipment, cable tray, conduit, cable, grounding, lighting, heat tracing, and power distribution systems.
- Monitor cable pulling, terminations, testing, system completions, and energization readiness.
- Coordinate electrical outages, tie-ins, isolations, and brownfield system interfaces.
- Support resolution of field changes, RFIs, and installation challenges.
Instrumentation & Controls
- Coordinate installation of field instruments, control devices, junction boxes, instrument tubing, cabling, and communications systems.
- Support instrument calibration, loop checks, functional testing, and system completion activities.
- Coordinate interfaces with DCS, SIS, PLC, packaged equipment controls, and vendor systems.
- Ensure instrumentation work supports mechanical completion, turnover, commissioning, and startup schedules.
Operations, Turnaround & Integrated Planning
- Coordinate E&I activities with Operations and Maintenance for permits, outages, tie-ins, cutovers, isolations, and energization activities.
- Support planning and execution of turnaround-related work scopes.
- Ensure turnaround-dependent work is fully engineered, material-ready, and execution-ready.
- Participate in Operations Readiness Reviews, SIMOPS planning, and integrated execution meetings.
- Identify opportunities to advance work outside outage windows to reduce execution risk and turnaround duration.
Testing, Turnover & Commissioning
- Coordinate with Quality, Turnover, Commissioning, and Readiness teams to support system completion.
- Ensure inspection and testing documentation is completed and maintained.
- Support electrical testing, calibration, loop checks, commissioning, startup, and system handover activities.
- Drive resolution of deficiencies and punch-list items prior to turnover.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Minimum 15 years of construction experience within oil & gas, oil sands, mining, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial environments.
- Minimum 10 years of E&I construction or construction coordination experience in active brownfield operating facilities.
- Strong understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and controls construction practices.
- Experience with brownfield tie-ins, isolations, electrical outages, energization, control-system cutovers, testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Experience supporting major turnaround planning and execution activities.
- Experience coordinating interfaces between Construction, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Turnover, and Commissioning teams.
