About the Role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Manager, Credit & Collections will lead a team of 10 credit and collections professionals while remaining actively involved in daily operations. This individual will bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, helping to strengthen existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement within a more manual operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of credit and collections professionals.
- Oversee day-to-day credit, collections, dispute resolution, and accounts receivable activities while being hands on involved at times.
- Monitor customer account performance, aging reports, credit limits, and collection effectiveness.
- Communicate and engage with clients helping maintain a positive business relationship while keeping them in good standing.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and Operations to resolve account issues and improve cash flow.
- Establish priorities, performance expectations, and best practices for the team.
- Review and evaluate customer creditworthiness and associated risk.
- Develop and implement collection strategies that reduce delinquency and bad debt exposure.
- Analyze trends, identify operational gaps, and recommend process improvements.
- Help modernize and streamline workflows within a largely manual environment.
- Create reporting and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer-focused service.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading credit, collections, or accounts receivable teams in a Manager capacity.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CCP designation or other related certifications are an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, collections practices, and accounts receivable management.
- Demonstrated success coaching, mentoring, and developing employees.
- Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and participating in day-to-day operational activities.
- Experience working within environments that include manual processes and opportunities for improvement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across multiple departments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
