Senior Payroll Specialist (3-months | potential extension)
Location: Midtown Toronto, ON (TTC accessible)
Work Arrangement: On-site, Monday to Friday
Contract Length: 3 months, with potential for extension
Pay rate: $35-40/hr, commensurate with experience
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team on an immediate, temporary basis. This role offers the opportunity to support payroll operations and financial administration within a collaborative and professional environment. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll expertise, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with financial systems, reconciliations, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and in compliance with applicable legislation and company policies
- Administer employee benefits, pension contributions, and payroll-related documentation
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), year-end tax slips, and other payroll compliance requirements
- Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Enter and maintain financial data within accounting and payroll systems
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Perform account reconciliations and support monthly financial processes
- Generate routine financial reports and assist with data analysis as required
- Support expense reporting and documentation processes
- Maintain organized financial records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Provide administrative support to the finance team and assist with special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Payroll Administration, or a related field
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll administration and financial operations
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, benefits administration, and payroll compliance requirements
- Experience with accounting and payroll software systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
