Senior Payroll Specialist (3-months | potential extension)

Location: Midtown Toronto, ON (TTC accessible)

Work Arrangement: On-site, Monday to Friday

Contract Length: 3 months, with potential for extension

Pay rate: $35-40/hr, commensurate with experience

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team on an immediate, temporary basis. This role offers the opportunity to support payroll operations and financial administration within a collaborative and professional environment. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll expertise, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with financial systems, reconciliations, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Process payroll accurately and in compliance with applicable legislation and company policies
Administer employee benefits, pension contributions, and payroll-related documentation
Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), year-end tax slips, and other payroll compliance requirements
Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Enter and maintain financial data within accounting and payroll systems
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Perform account reconciliations and support monthly financial processes
Generate routine financial reports and assist with data analysis as required
Support expense reporting and documentation processes
Maintain organized financial records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
Provide administrative support to the finance team and assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Payroll Administration, or a related field
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation required
Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll administration and financial operations
Strong understanding of payroll legislation, benefits administration, and payroll compliance requirements
Experience with accounting and payroll software systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
