Tous ensemble, extraordinaires
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant with strong accounting fundamentals and the analytical curiosity to support a fast-growing business. You will own key accounting activities while contributing to financial analysis, payroll support, and special projects as needs evolve.
The right person combines the discipline learned in a larger organization with the resourcefulness, humility, and willingness to roll up their sleeves that are essential in a small-company or start-up environment.
Location
This role may be based in Montreal, Atlanta, New Jersey, New York, or Dallas. Montreal-based colleagues work three days per week from our downtown office. U.S.-based colleagues work remotely, with potential quarterly travel, including occasional international travel.
Candidates must be authorized to work in their country of employment. We are unable to sponsor work visas.
What You'll Do
- Own key elements of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain general-ledger integrity and help deliver accurate, timely financial statements and management reporting.
- Analyze results, variances, trends, and business drivers, translating findings into clear insights.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, and other planning activities.
- Partner with payroll providers and internal stakeholders on processing, reconciliations, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, treasury, tax, audit, compliance, and procurement as needed.
- Help strengthen controls, documentation, reporting, and processes with practical, scalable solutions.
- Collaborate across functions and geographies and work effectively with auditors, advisors, banks, and service providers.
- Take on special projects, including work outside traditional accounting, using sound judgment and analytical skills.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent designation is an asset, not a requirement.
- Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful ownership of close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- A hands-on, team-first mindset and the ability to lead when needed. No task is too big or too small.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across cultures, geographies, functions, and professional backgrounds.
- Experience in treasury, travel and expense management, and procurement.
- Experience in both a small, high-growth or start-up environment and a larger, well-established organization.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including variance analysis, forecasting, data interpretation, and clear communication of conclusions.
- Advanced Excel or spreadsheet skills, NetSuite experience, and comfort learning new tools.
- Working knowledge of IFRS; multi-entity, multi-currency, cross-border, international payroll, or global accounting experience is an asset.
How You Work
- Hands-on and accountable: You take ownership, follow through, and do the detailed work, not only review it.
- Low ego and team-first: You value contribution over title, pitch in, and treat others with respect.
- Adaptable: You are comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, and responsibilities beyond a traditional job description.
- Practical and improvement-minded: You maintain high standards without overengineering and seek simple, scalable improvements.
- Curious and analytical: You ask what the numbers mean, what drives them, and what action should follow.
