ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.

Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a strategic software engineering lead who is passionate about improving the performance of key applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.  The software engineer will support our open-source, GPU-accelerated libraries of algorithms and collectives, rocPRIM, hipCUB, rocThrust, rocRAND, and hipRAND (https://github.com/ROCm/rocm-libraries/), part of the AMD ROCm Software.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD. You are accustomed to working in a dynamic, geographically distributed agile team, where partnership and collaboration are paramount.

Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts
Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
Participating in new ASIC and hardware bring ups

Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
Use Agentic AI to enhance productivity, automate workflows, and improve operational efficiency
Work with key technical experts across AMD and with our partners and customers to improve ROCm applications, libraries, and tools

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Strong object-oriented programming background, with over 15 years of C++ experience
Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
Experience with GPU software development using HIP, CUDA, or OpenCL
Hands-on experience using AI tools to support software development and scientific applications
Understanding of CPU and GPU architectures and low-level optimization techniques including assembly programming and/or vectorization
Experience with Linux and Windows operating system development
In-depth knowledge of best-practices in software development, including testing, profiling, debugging, documentation, version control, issue tracking, and planning
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or equivalent
Advanced degrees, such as M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D. are preferred
