Liaise with external parties such as regulatory authorities, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
Work with project management teams and field personnel to develop and implement solutions to safety-related issues.
Work with management to develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with Aecon’s safety standards, policies, and procedures.
Represent Aecon at meetings with clients, stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and other organizations regarding workplace health and safety matters.
Lead and support incident reporting and investigations.
Identify corrective actions following incidents and support implementation and follow-up.
Support claims management and return-to-work initiatives.
Monitor EHS performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Provide EHS leadership, coaching, and guidance to project teams and operational leaders.

What You Bring to the Team:

10+ years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, preferably within the construction or heavy civil infrastructure industry.

Strong knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs to individuals and groups.
Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety audits.
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
