Original job description

Associate, Architectural Acoustical Engineering

Aercoustics Engineering Ltd.,

1004 Middlegate Road, Suite 1100

Mississauga, L4Y 0G1

When you go to a show, you hear more than words and music. You hear how the shape of the room, how the finishes of the space, and how quiet the space is, creates an overall experience. You hear the hum of the lights and the foot falls on the stage.

You have the experience and are a talented acoustic consultant/engineer and are looking for flexibility, challenging work, and a culture that pushes you to be your best.

We’re Aercoustics Engineering Ltd., and this is where you belong.

We’re an award-winning, national leader in consulting engineering services in the field of acoustics, noise and vibration. We work on varied and challenging projects, from noise reduction in transit systems, to world-class performance spaces for the Royal Conservatory of Music, to the research and development of tools that are changing our industry.

We’re ambitious and growing. We invest in people, we innovate with purpose, and we deliver with pride. We’re looking for an Associate, Architectural Acoustics who will elevate our practice, our people, and our impact.

About You

When people work with you, they enjoy coming to work. You’re the kind of leader who can walk a site in the morning, mentor a designer at lunch, and align a client by late afternoon then turn that momentum into repeat business. You’re equally energized by detail, and a bold vision.

You build trust fast. You listen deeply, ask sharp questions, and bring clarity to complex, multi-stakeholder projects. You coach with empathy, hold a high bar for excellence, and you’re relentless about outcomes: quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction.

You love the craft of architectural acoustics and you love the business of it too. You see where the market is going, you shape opportunities, and you rally a team to deliver signature projects that people talk about for years.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced acoustical engineer who wants to lead both technical work and the people behind it. As an Associate at Aercoustics, you will guide a team, help match the right people to the right projects, and ensure our work meets the high standards our clients expect.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys developing others as much as solving complex technical problems. You will have a voice in how we strengthen our capabilities, serve our clients, and grow the business.

What You’ll Do

Lead technical excellence

Provide technical direction on acoustical engineering projects. Guide teams through complex challenges, review key deliverables or arrange appropriate technical review, and help maintain consistent quality across the work.

Develop your team

Coach and mentor engineers and technical staff through regular feedback, career conversations, and development plans. Identify opportunities for people to build their skills and take on new challenges.

Plan resources and support delivery

Balance project needs, team capacity, and individual strengths when assigning work. Monitor workload, project status, and forecasts so teams have the support they need to deliver well.

Strengthen operations

Support team productivity, project profitability, invoicing, and adherence to company processes. Spot issues early and work with colleagues to resolve them.

Build client relationships and help us grow

Develop trusted relationships with clients and contribute to proposals, pursuits, and strategic initiatives. Identify opportunities to expand our services and represent Aercoustics in the industry.

Shape what comes next

Contribute to technical training, knowledge sharing, innovation, and planning for the future of your team and the firm.

What You Bring

Must-Haves

At least 8+ years in architectural acoustics with a portfolio of complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
Experience leading teams and client accounts; proven record in profitability, delivery, and client satisfaction.

A professional engineering designation, or eligibility for licensure in the jurisdiction where you will work
Strong technical judgment in acoustics, noise, and/or vibration
Experience reviewing technical work and guiding other engineers
Experience leading, mentoring, or developing team members
Ability to plan work, set priorities, and allocate resources across competing project needs
Strong client relationship, communication, and problem-solving skills
An understanding of project financial performance, including budgets, utilization, and profitability

Why Join Us

A leadership role with meaningful influence over people, technical quality, and business direction
Interesting, technically challenging projects across a range of sectors
The opportunity to develop the next generation of acoustical engineers
A collaborative team that shares knowledge and solves problems together
A flexible, people-focused culture that values both high standards and enjoying the work

Working @ Aercoustics

Our culture is ambitious, collaborative, and people-focused. Some of the values that guide us are:

Make it Fun
We’re In It Together
Innovate, Solve, Repeat
Respect the Science
Everyone is a Leader

How to Apply

Tell us about the technical work you have led, the people you have developed, and the impact you have made for clients or your business.

We value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified candidates to apply. Accommodation is available throughout the recruitment process upon request. If needed, please reach out to PaulaA@aercoustics.com.
