Key Responsibility: The Actuarial Analyst, Valuation & Modelling supports the Solutions team through financial and actuarial modelling, analysis, reporting, and solution design. Ideally in Saskatoon, but open to exploring candidates in other centers, working closely with internal stakeholders, the Analyst develops and maintains models, evaluates life insurance strategies, investigates analytical issues, and supports the preparation of client recommendations.
This role is ideally suited to an individual pursuing a career in actuarial science who enjoys problem solving, quantitative analysis, and applying actuarial concepts to real-world client situations.
Job Responsibilities:
Actuarial and Financial Modelling
- Build, maintain, update, and validate financial and actuarial models.
- Develop projections and scenario analyses for insurance-based planning strategies.
- Analyze policy performance and long-term financial outcomes.
- Investigate model discrepancies and validate assumptions.
- Support the development of new modelling tools and methodologies.
Analysis and Solution Design
- Evaluate life insurance strategies and alternative planning solutions.
- Assess assumptions, risks, and projected outcomes.
- Analyze trends and identify unusual or unexpected results.
- Apply actuarial and quantitative thinking to support client recommendations.
Client and Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with Partners, consultants, Account Managers, and Account Service Representatives.
- Support the preparation of client-facing analyses and reports.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Gather information required to complete analyses and modelling projects.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare analysis summaries and supporting documentation.
- Maintain model documentation and assumptions.
- Support recurring review and reporting activities.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives.
Qualifications/Education:
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline.
- Progress toward SOA/CIA actuarial credentials is considered an asset.
- Experience developing financial, actuarial, or analytical models.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with insurance products, risk modelling, or actuarial analysis is considered an asset.
