Job Summary: Our Parts Technician keeps the Edmonton tank division’s shop and service teams supplied with the right parts at the right time. You’ll be the first point of contact for all parts and inventory needs, identifying and sourcing heavy duty parts for trucks, trailers, tanks, and fuel system equipment, managing stock and shipments, and keeping the branch inventory accurate and organized. You’ll also represent the division and AFD to our customers and suppliers, working closely with technicians, service staff, and vendors to keep work moving.

Full-time, permanent, at our Edmonton shop. Some overtime may be required.

What you will do day-to-day:
- Identify, source, and order heavy duty parts from vendors and suppliers using parts catalogues, manufacturer systems, and cross-references.
- Create and process work orders for the shop and service department, and charge parts to repair orders.
- Create new part numbers in line with established guidelines.
- Receive, ship, and track inbound and outbound parts, and transfer inventory to other branches.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts and reconciliations, and lead year-end physical counts and inventory audits.
- Set and maintain min/max levels and monitor branch inventory turns.
- Build and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and control costs on parts and shop supplies.
- Manage product costing and assist with pricing for customer sales and new assets.
- Maintain digital inventory records and prepare weekly reports and inventory forecasts for management.
- Answer incoming calls and provide professional service to customers and internal teams.
- Keep the parts area organized, clean, and safe.
- Pick up parts from suppliers when needed.
- Identify and help implement improvements to inventory processes.
What you need to succeed:
- 3+ years’ experience as a parts technician in a heavy duty, commercial truck, or equipment environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong knowledge of heavy duty parts identification, catalogues, and cross-referencing.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems and accurate data entry.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and email.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent time management.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in a shop and warehouse environment.
Extra skills and Knowledge:
- Certified Parts Technician (Alberta journeyperson certificate or Red Seal).
- Experience with fuel systems, tanks, and the major fuel equipment providers.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Knowledge of the purchase order process.
