What You'll Do
Own AI Applications in Production
- Take ownership of AI-enabled applications after they are deployed into production.
- Investigate application issues, bugs and user-reported problems and drive them through resolution.
- Use application logs, monitoring tools and other available diagnostic information to understand production issues and identify root causes.
- Monitor application behavior and performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability.
- Coordinate with internal development teams and external vendors when issues require broader technical involvement.
- Help establish appropriate boundaries between production support, small enhancements and larger requests that should return to the project/development lifecycle.
- Provide business-hours production support for the AI application portfolio.
- Troubleshoot, modify and enhance existing AI applications using Python and TypeScript.
- Deliver smaller feature requests and application improvements based on business-user feedback.
- Work with APIs, cloud services and existing application components to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Participate in testing and validation of enhancements before changes are released.
- Maintain high-quality, maintainable code while working within existing applications.
Work across a growing portfolio of AI solutions that may include:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and enterprise search
- Copilots and conversational applications
- Chatbots
- Document-processing solutions
- LLM-enabled business applications
- Workflow agents and AI-driven automation
- Identify recurring support issues that can be reduced or eliminated through automation.
- Build or enhance AI agents and workflows that can monitor applications for errors or performance degradation.
- Develop automation that provides diagnostic information and context when problems occur.
- Where appropriate guardrails exist, contribute to solutions that can recommend or automate repeatable corrective actions.
- Continuously look for ways to make support more proactive and scalable rather than relying on repetitive manual intervention.
- Engage directly with non-technical users to understand application issues, feedback and enhancement requests.
- Translate business problems into practical technical solutions.
- Explain technical issues and proposed solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrate application enhancements and changes back to the users who requested them.
- Provide a strong service-oriented experience while maintaining ownership of technical issues.
Technical Experience
- Hands-on experience developing AI, Generative AI or LLM-enabled applications.
- Strong application development experience using Python and TypeScript.
- Experience working with applications deployed in Microsoft Azure.
- Practical experience troubleshooting applications in production.
- Hands-on experience using logs and monitoring tools to investigate application behavior, diagnose errors and resolve production issues.
- Experience working with APIs and modern cloud-based application architectures.
- Understanding of LLM application concepts and the components involved in building and operating AI-enabled applications.
- Experience with one or more areas such as RAG, enterprise search, copilots/chatbots, document processing, LLM applications or AI agents/workflows.
- Experience developing enhancements and modifying existing applications, rather than working exclusively on greenfield development.
- Experience supporting software or AI applications after they have been deployed into production.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Ability to move comfortably between reviewing code, investigating logs, understanding user-reported behavior and implementing a solution.
- A proactive approach to identifying repetitive issues and determining how they can be automated.
- An ownership mindset, with the ability to take responsibility for an issue from initial investigation through resolution.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working directly with business users and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to understand user feedback and translate it into technical requirements or enhancements.
- Comfortable demonstrating completed changes and explaining how solutions work.
- Strong service orientation combined with an engineering mindset.
- Ability to balance immediate issue resolution with longer-term opportunities to automate and improve the environment.
- AI / LLM Application Engineering: 2+ years of experience developing, enhancing and supporting Generative AI / LLM-enabled applications, with exposure to solutions such as RAG/enterprise search, copilots/chatbots, document processing or AI-driven workflows/agents. Specific LLM or agent frameworks are not required.
- Python & TypeScript Development: 5+ years of software engineering experience with Python and TypeScript, with the ability to troubleshoot existing code, resolve defects, build enhancements and contribute to AI-driven automation.
- Production Application Support & Troubleshooting: 3+ years of experience owning or supporting applications in production, including investigating user-reported issues and using logs and monitoring tools to diagnose problems, determine root causes and implement solutions.
