Job Description

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a complex, enterprise-level HR technology and business integration initiative. This role will be responsible for coordinating a significant HR transformation involving the migration of an acquired organization's HR environment from Dayforce to Workday, while also managing a number of related HR business and process integration workstreams.

The Project Manager will work closely with HR, Finance, Technology, business stakeholders, other Project Managers, and a certified Workday Services partner. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring someone who can establish structure, manage dependencies, drive accountability, and communicate effectively with both senior business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

Approximately 75% of the role will focus on HR-related initiatives, with approximately 25% focused on implementing Workday Expenses for Finance.

The Project Manager is not expected to be a hands-on Workday configurator. The focus is on project leadership, coordination, governance, dependencies, and successful delivery.

HR Business & Process Integration

Coordinate and track a number of non-Workday HR workstreams. Functional workstream owners will be responsible for delivering their respective areas, while the Project Manager will maintain the integrated plan and ensure progress, dependencies, risks, and deliverables are effectively managed.

  • HR process integration
  • HR business partner activities
  • Employee communications and training
  • Organizational structure and employee transitions
  • Employee onboarding
  • Talent acquisition
  • Compensation
  • Employment agreements
  • Alignment of HR policies, standards, and practices

Finance Workstream

Lead and coordinate the implementation of Workday Expenses for the Finance organization, ensuring alignment with the broader program and other project dependencies.

Project Management & Governance

  • Develop, maintain, and manage an integrated project schedule.
  • Coordinate activities and dependencies across multiple project and business workstreams.
  • Monitor project milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
  • Maintain and actively manage the RAID log.
  • Manage project budgets and cost tracking.
  • Coordinate and manage change requests with implementation partners.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors and implementation partners to drive delivery and accountability.
  • Produce clear weekly project status reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver steering committee and executive-level updates.
  • Identify delivery risks and proactively drive mitigation and resolution.
  • Ensure stakeholders remain aligned on project scope, priorities, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Adapt project plans as priorities and business requirements evolve.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional enterprise projects involving both business and technology stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple interconnected workstreams, dependencies, schedules, budgets, and delivery risks.
  • Strong experience working with third-party vendors, consulting firms, systems integrators, or implementation partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience working with senior leadership and steering committees.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, resource management, and project governance capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and drive accountability across teams where resources may not directly report to the Project Manager.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt and pivot within a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to work with sensitive employee and organizational information while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

Any combination of the following would be considered valuable:

  • Experience leading HR technology, HRIS, HCM, Payroll, Benefits, or broader HR transformation initiatives.
  • Workday implementation or migration experience.
  • Dayforce experience.
  • Previous Dayforce-to-Workday migration experience.
  • Workday HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, and/or Expenses experience.
  • Experience supporting US multi-state payroll environments.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, post-acquisition integration, or large organizational integration programs.
  • Experience delivering projects involving both Canadian and US business operations.
  • HR process integration or transformation experience, including Total Rewards, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, employee communications, or organizational change.
  • PMP or comparable project management certification.

Top Skills Necessary

  • 10+ years of senior project/program management experience, with demonstrated success leading complex, enterprise-scale transformation, integration, or technology-enabled business initiatives involving multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • 3+ years of experience leading projects utilizing HR technology and/or business transformation experience, ideally involving HRIS/HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, Total Rewards, or related HR processes. Experience with Workday is highly valued but is not mandatory.
  • Exceptional cross-functional stakeholder and vendor management capabilities, including the ability to coordinate business and technology teams, manage implementation partners, drive workstream owners, resolve dependencies, and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • 10+ years of project governance and delivery discipline, including integrated project planning, RAID and dependency management, budget/cost tracking, change management, executive reporting, and steering committee communications.
