Job Description
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking Sr. Full Stack Developers to work on service innovation, program review and digital transformation projects across the organization. The Full Stack Developers will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams. These teams, led by the organization's product owners and work collaboratively and collectively participate in a full range of activities including: field research, backlog definition and refinement, and sprint planning and execution. Digital transformation projects review the current state of services, identify future opportunities, and then deliver new services that are efficient, effective and affordable.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and contribute to project research and discovery, including:
- Contributing to field research and user interviews.
- Leading technical discovery activities and producing related artifacts such as diagrams and documentation.
- Provide solution design and development services, including:
- Creating detailed solution designs based on insights gathered during discovery.
- Delivering features that support the continued development of exemplar projects and enhance user experience.
- Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving functional and non-functional defects.
- Improving code quality, tooling, and documentation to enhance maintainability.
- Collaborate with frontend designers to deliver solutions that align with a consistent user experience and visual design.
- Advise product owners on technical approaches, implementation options, and delivery strategies to support frequent releases.
- Support solution deployment and launch activities for both limited and general availability releases.
- Contribute to the development of a user-centric services platform by:
- Prioritizing reuse in solution design and implementation.
- Building and enhancing reusable common components and capabilities.
- Sustain ongoing development efforts by:
- Onboarding and mentoring technical team members.
- Maintaining technical documentation.
- Adopting and continuously improving development, quality, and team processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience using source control systems, particularly Git, within collaborative software development environments.
- 3+ years of experience with automated unit testing and integration testing.
- 3+ years of experience working with database technologies, including relational databases and alternative database technologies.
- 5+ years of experience working as a Full Stack Developer on complex software solutions within an Agile team environment.
- 3+ years of experience developing and supporting production applications using modern application frameworks and front-end JavaScript frameworks.
- 2+ years of experience incrementally transforming legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.
- 1+ year of experience leveraging generative AI and agentic tooling to produce executive-grade outputs, including drafting, analysis, structured retrieval, and workflow automation. Experience with prompt design, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and critically evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, risk, hallucination, and sensitivity is an asset.
- 2+ years of experience working with one or more of the following technologies:
- Frontend: Angular, React, Vue.js
- Backend: C#/.NET Core, Node.js (NestJS, Express), Python (Django)
- 2+ years of experience applying software design patterns and considering software architecture principles in solution development.
- 2+ years of experience working with Government of Alberta development guidelines and principles.
- 2+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
- 2+ years of experience working within multidisciplinary teams applying UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.
