Original job description

Your future is bright at AGAT

AGAT Laboratories is seeking a Technical Client Services Specialist to join our Environmental Division in Edmonton.

This is not a traditional customer service position – it is an opportunity for a technically minded, ambitious individual to become an important link between our clients and our laboratory operations. You will work directly with clients, understand their analytical needs, coordinate with our scientific and operational teams, solve problems and help ensure an exceptional client experience. We are looking for someone who wants to build a career - not simply fill a position. For this opportunity, we are seeking someone who can combine technical aptitude with exceptional people skills.

The Opportunity:
As a Technical Client Services Specialist, you will develop a strong understanding of environmental laboratory services while building relationships with clients and working closely with AGAT's laboratory professionals.

You will take ownership of the client experience from sample submission through analysis, reporting and final delivery. This position offers exposure to laboratory operations, technical services and client management and provides an opportunity to develop broader responsibilities as your knowledge and capabilities grow.

For an individual with initiative, strong communication skills and an interest in science, this can be the beginning of a rewarding long-term career with AGAT. Above all, you will help deliver AGAT's commitment to Service Beyond Analysis.

What you will be doing:

Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted resource for Environmental clients.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through face-to-face meetings, telephone conversations and ongoing communication.
Develop an understanding of each client's business, analytical requirements and expectations.
Act as the link between clients and AGAT's laboratory and operational teams.
Take ownership of client projects and help ensure commitments are met.
Monitor projects and work orders as they progress through the laboratory.
Proactively communicate project status, laboratory updates and potential turnaround-time delays.
Coordinate with laboratory and operational teams regarding client projects, technical questions and reanalysis requirements.
Communicate sample integrity concerns and work with clients and laboratory personnel toward appropriate solutions.
Ensure accurate and timely delivery of sample receipt notifications, certificates of analysis, reports, exports and invoices.
Identify opportunities to improve analytical packages, reporting formats and the overall client experience.
Maintain accurate client information and special instructions within AGAT's systems.
Participate in ongoing technical, client-service and professional development.

Who we are looking for:

A diploma or degree in Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of client-facing experience is preferred.
Minimum one to two years of laboratory or customer service experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confidence communicating directly with clients and technical professionals.
The ability to develop relationships and earn the trust of clients and colleagues.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Initiative, curiosity and strong problem-solving ability.
The confidence to take ownership of an issue and follow it through to resolution.
The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or reporting systems is an asset.
A collaborative approach and genuine desire to learn and develop.

Who We Are:

AGAT Laboratories is a premier full-service laboratory operating at the cutting edge of science and innovation across North America. Our expertise spans geochemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, geology, and engineering, enabling us to deliver comprehensive analytical solutions. These services drive progress in industries such as Mining, Environmental, Energy, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-Food, and Life Sciences.

We pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art technology, diverse expertise, and commitment to providing precise, timely, and reliable results. Beyond our technical excellence, AGAT Laboratories believes in the power of strong client relationships, fostering trust and collaboration to ensure mutual success.

Our Commitment to Community and Philanthropy:

At AGAT, we strive not only to advance science but also to make a positive impact in our communities. The AGAT Foundation is at the heart of our philanthropic efforts, supporting initiatives that improve education, environmental stewardship, and community well-being.

Through partnerships with local organizations, volunteer activities, and donations, the AGAT Foundation champions programs that inspire future generations, promote sustainable practices, and provide support to those in need. Whether funding scholarships, participating in environmental cleanups, or supporting health and wellness initiatives, AGAT is deeply invested in giving back.

Our work extends beyond the laboratory - we’re committed to creating a brighter future for our employees, clients, and the communities we serve.

Join AGAT Laboratories to be part of an organization that values not just scientific innovation but also meaningful connections and lasting contributions to society.

Inclusion and Diversity:

AGAT Laboratories is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering an inclusive and barrier-free workplace. If you require accommodation during any stage of the recruitment process, please inform us confidentially, and we will work to meet your needs.
Thank You for Your Interest:

We appreciate the time and effort of every applicant. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
