About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our cross-platform mobile applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and innovative Android solutions that align with our strategic goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the technical direction of our mobile products, mentor junior team members, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and agile development. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with native Android development, a strong understanding of modern development practices, and a passion for creating impactful financial technology solutions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess at least 6 years of experience in native Android application development using Java and Kotlin, along with a solid background in application and data architecture. Experience with modern Android development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Jetpack Compose, Espresso, Junit, and Jenkins is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of mentoring junior and mid-level developers and guiding technical and business stakeholders. A bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, agile methodologies, and open-source technologies will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Collaborate within a dynamic mobile development team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across various development tools and technologies.
- Contribute expertise on how evolving technologies impact the domain, ensuring our mobile applications remain innovative and competitive.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
