About The Role

Utilismart Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team. Reporting directly to the Manager of IT, the successful candidate will be instrumental in safeguarding and maintaining the integrity of internal data assets. This role involves ensuring that our databases are optimized to support the company’s expanding digital platform, including strategic planning for development and establishing long-term database roadmaps. The Database Administrator will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database systems, ensuring their security, performance, and scalability align with organizational needs. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making and uphold compliance standards.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or a related field, complemented by at least three years of professional experience working with SQL, Oracle databases, Solaris operating systems, and comprehensive database design. Industry-recognized certifications relevant to database administration, such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, are highly desirable. A strong commitment to continuous learning through workshops, training, and professional publications is essential to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement data administration policies, standards, and models, including leading and coordinating teams of data administrators during development phases.
Research and document critical data requirements, collection policies, access rules, and security protocols to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
Create procedures for network and Internet database access, usage, backup, and recovery to maintain operational continuity.
Maintain, patch, and secure databases to ensure optimal performance, stability, and security.
Calculate optimal values for database parameters to support database health, performance, and stability.
Design and implement utilities for monitoring database health and proactively addressing issues.
Write and optimize scripts for stored procedures, triggers, and other database objects to enhance functionality and automation.
Conduct research and provide expert advice to other IT professionals regarding data collection, availability, security, and suitability.
Maintain comprehensive user manuals and documentation to support end-users and internal teams.
Provide Tier I and Tier II support to internal staff, troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues promptly.
Support Utilismart’s ISO certification efforts by maintaining necessary ISMS documentation and ensuring compliance with security standards.

Responsibilities
