Original job description

About The Company

National Bank is a leading financial institution committed to delivering innovative banking solutions and exceptional client service. With a rich history of supporting individuals, businesses, and communities, we strive to foster growth and financial well-being through our comprehensive range of banking products and services. Our organization values integrity, collaboration, and a forward-thinking approach, making us a trusted partner in the financial industry. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and dynamic work environment where employees can thrive and contribute to our mission of making a positive impact on people's lives.

About The Role

Joining National Bank as a Full Stack Developer offers an exciting opportunity to be part of our Capital Markets development team. In this role, you will take ownership of critical applications that support traders in their daily activities. Your work will involve close collaboration with traders and other stakeholders within the Capital Markets division to understand their workflows, translate business needs into effective technological solutions, and oversee the entire application lifecycle from conception to deployment and ongoing support. This position provides a unique chance to see the tangible impact of your work on the business, as well as to develop your skills in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The role emphasizes technical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement, aligning with our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that drive business success.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess at least three years of professional full-stack development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complete applications or projects. Strong expertise in back-end development using Python is essential, complemented by proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in frameworks like React or Angular. Familiarity with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, is highly valued. Candidates should also have experience working with version control systems like Git, agile methodologies, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, containerization tools like Docker, and orchestration with Kubernetes will be advantageous. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are required, along with a high level of ownership and attention to detail. A background or interest in finance, trading, or Capital Markets is considered an asset, as is curiosity and a willingness to deepen your expertise in these areas.

Responsibilities

Partner directly with traders and other Capital Markets stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
Own the complete development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Develop and maintain reliable, scalable, high-performing full-stack applications that meet business requirements.
Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement proactive measures to improve system performance and stability.
Collaborate with fellow developers and technology partners to continuously enhance coding practices, solution quality, and overall system robustness.
Share your expertise by mentoring less-experienced developers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Benefits

National Bank offers a competitive compensation package complemented by a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your well-being and that of your family. Upon hiring, you will be eligible for programs including a health and wellness plan with various options, flexible group insurance, and a generous pension plan. Additional benefits include an Employee Share Ownership Plan, employee and family assistance programs, preferential banking services, and involvement in community initiatives. We also provide telemedicine services, a virtual sleep clinic, and other innovative health solutions. Our flexible work environment, which includes hybrid work models and flexible schedules, fosters a positive employee experience. We prioritize continuous professional development through on-the-job learning, personalized training, and regular feedback, ensuring our employees grow alongside the organization.

Equal Opportunity

National Bank is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment for all employees and candidates. We value diversity and believe that a variety of perspectives enhances our ability to serve our clients and community. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds. We strive to provide accommodations throughout the recruitment process and are dedicated to ensuring a barrier-free environment. If you require any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know. Join us in making a difference and contributing to a people-first organization that values integrity, partnership, and innovation.
