About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer in Data Engineering to join our Financial Crime and Regulatory Projects team at National Bank. This pivotal role involves serving as a Data Analytics Specialist, where you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data solutions that support our compliance and operational objectives. You will play a key part in modernizing our data platforms, optimizing information assets, and advancing analytical capabilities within the bank. Your expertise will directly influence our ability to detect and prevent financial crimes, meet regulatory requirements, and enhance overall data governance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering. Expertise in data design and modelling, particularly using data vault and dimensional approaches, is essential. You should have a proven track record of designing, developing, and operating large-scale data solutions within distributed and cloud environments. Proficiency in SQL and Python is required, along with a solid understanding of data processing optimization practices. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Snowflake, and tools like Terraform, as well as collaborative development practices including DevOps, automation, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines, will be considered an asset. A strong understanding of data quality, governance, security, and valuation issues is also necessary.
Responsibilities
- Define and develop innovative data solutions and models that align with the analytical needs of the financial crime and regulatory sectors.
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance data pipelines for batch and real-time processing, utilizing technologies such as Kafka in cloud environments.
- Integrate and automate data flows between various systems and business applications, optimizing processing through SQL and Python scripting.
- Implement and oversee governance, control, quality, security, and confidentiality measures to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Influence and contribute to the evolution of the bank’s data strategy, platforms, and infrastructure, promoting best practices in engineering and automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions, supporting the bank’s ongoing initiatives against financial crime.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the adoption of innovative technologies and methods to enhance data processing and analytics capabilities.
