About The Company

McKesson is an impact-driven, Fortune 10 company that touches virtually every aspect of healthcare. We are known for delivering insights, products, and services that make quality care more accessible and affordable. Here, we focus on the health, happiness, and well-being of you and those we serve - we care.

What you do at McKesson matters. We foster a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and are empowered to bring new ideas. Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow's health today, we want to hear from you.

About The Role

The Data Scientist - Level 5 at McKesson is a strategic leadership position dedicated to advancing the company's data science capabilities. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated predictive analytics and machine learning models that support data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. Operating within a regulated environment, the role emphasizes compliance while fostering innovation and delivering measurable impact. The Data Scientist will lead efforts to integrate large and diverse datasets, architect specialized databases, and oversee computing environments essential for data science projects. Collaboration with engineering, service teams, and business stakeholders is vital to ensure solutions align with enterprise goals. Additionally, the role involves providing technical mentorship, thought leadership, and promoting best practices to enhance organizational data literacy and capabilities.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess expertise in model deployment patterns, including batch and stream processing, along with scalable scoring solutions. A strong understanding of model evaluation frameworks, champion-challenger testing, and lifecycle metrics is essential. Experience with ML model interpretability to meet governance and audit standards is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in predictive modeling across various business problem types within production constraints, as well as advanced skills in synthetic data generation for augmentation and privacy-preserving purposes. Strong business acumen is necessary to translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations. Leadership capabilities include guiding the design and development of analytics solutions and mentoring junior data scientists to ensure high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end process of designing, developing, and deploying advanced predictive analytics and machine learning models to address complex business and IT challenges.

Oversee the integration, preparation, and management of large datasets, architect specialized databases, and maintain computing environments optimized for data science projects.

Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to data science team members, promoting adherence to best practices in modeling, automation, and data visualization.

Create and present data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical insights to leadership, IT, and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable outcomes.

Collaborate with engineering and service management teams to align data science solutions with strategic business needs and coordinate resources effectively.

Communicate predictive insights and recommendations to leadership, influencing strategic decisions and operational improvements.

Drive the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative approaches to enhance McKesson's data science capabilities and maintain industry leadership.

Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the data science team, fostering professional development and organizational growth.

Benefits

McKesson offers a competitive compensation package as part of our Total Rewards program, which is determined based on performance, experience, skills, and market conditions. The package includes base salary, annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits aimed at supporting your health, well-being, and financial security. Additional benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, professional development opportunities, and wellness programs. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where employees can thrive and grow professionally.

Equal Opportunity

McKesson is an Equal Opportunity Employer that provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, age, genetic information, or any other legally protected category. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued and every individual has the opportunity to succeed. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply and join our team in making a meaningful difference in healthcare.
