About The Company

Jetson Home is dedicated to transforming the way homes utilize energy by promoting sustainable and electric-powered solutions across North America. With a mission to accelerate the transition of 100 million homes away from fossil fuels, Jetson aims to create a future that is cleaner, more efficient, and more affordable. The company specializes in building a fully vertically integrated home electrification platform, making clean energy solutions accessible and transparent for homeowners. Leveraging advanced technology, automation, and data analytics, Jetson is committed to scaling its impact and driving innovation in the home energy sector.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Accounting & Finance team at Jetson Home. This pivotal role involves managing payroll operations for our diverse workforce across Canada and the United States. As a key member of the team, you will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing for hourly, salaried, piece-rate, and commissioned employees. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to set up scalable payroll systems to support our rapid growth and market expansion. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape and optimize our payroll processes, support compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulations, and contribute to Jetson's mission of electrifying homes across North America.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess over five years of payroll experience, ideally with exposure to both Canadian and US payroll systems. A professional designation such as PCP/CPM (Canada) or CPP (US) is considered an asset. You should have extensive hands-on experience working with ADP (Workforce Now or similar platforms), along with a solid understanding of multi-jurisdictional payroll compliance, including CRA, IRS, provincial, and state regulations. Strong proficiency in Excel or Sheets, high accuracy, and sound judgment in handling confidential information are essential. Familiarity with modern automation tools, including AI-driven solutions, to enhance payroll efficiency is highly desirable. Experience managing diverse pay structures - hourly, salaried, piece-rate, and commission-based - is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end payroll processing in ADP for employees across Canada and the US, including hourly, salaried, piece-rate, and commission-based staff.
Calculate and verify piece-rate pay for field technicians, ensuring compliance with minimum wage laws, overtime, and PTO rules specific to each province and state.
Collaborate with Sales and Finance teams to accurately calculate and process sales commissions, cross-checking data against CRM and sales records.
Reconcile payroll data with the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and support month-end closing activities and audits.
Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll regulations, including CRA, IRS, and provincial/state employment standards, withholding, remittances, and year-end filings such as T4 and W-2 forms.
Maintain employee pay data, manage ADP setup (earnings codes, deductions, benefits), and address employee inquiries related to payroll.
Assist in setting up payroll for new regions as Jetson expands into additional markets, and continuously seek automation opportunities to improve payroll processes.

Benefits

Competitive salary range of $82,000 to $102,000 per annum.
Comprehensive health benefits including dental, vision, and life insurance, with 100% premiums covered by the company.
Extended health care coverage and disability insurance to support your well-being.
Parental leave top-up to support new parents during critical life moments.
Educational support to foster professional growth and development.
Equity options to share in the company's success and growth.

Work Location

This position is based in person in North Vancouver, BC. Candidates should be prepared to work onsite to collaborate effectively with the team and support operational needs.

Equal Opportunity

Jetson Home is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, or gender identity. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and are dedicated to providing accommodations during the recruitment process. If you require any assistance, please contact us to ensure a fair and accessible application experience.
