About The Role
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Technician to join our client’s dynamic team in the film and entertainment industry. This is a permanent position located in Downtown Montreal. The Payroll Technician will play a crucial role in managing payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing for office staff and production crews alike. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payroll procedures, compliance regulations, and payroll software systems. They will collaborate closely with the Payroll Manager and HR team to ensure seamless payroll administration, contribute to year-end activities, and handle employee inquiries professionally. Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of three years of payroll experience, demonstrating proficiency in payroll processing and administration. Familiarity with Nethris or Employeur D payroll software is essential, along with a strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite. The candidate must exhibit a high level of discretion and confidentiality, coupled with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital for responding to employee inquiries and collaborating with team members. The ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines is required. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical to ensure compliance and correct payroll processing. Additionally, holding a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute (formerly the Canadian Payroll Association) will be considered an asset, reflecting a commitment to professional development in payroll practices.
Responsibilities
The Payroll Technician will be responsible for processing payroll for both office staff and production crews, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and organizational policies. Key responsibilities include administering payroll deductions, calculating wages, and ensuring accurate data entry. The role involves providing administrative support to the Payroll Manager and payroll team, assisting with the coordination of payroll activities, and responding promptly to employee payroll-related inquiries. The technician will participate in year-end activities such as preparing T4 slips, T2200 forms, and other relevant documentation. They will generate payroll reports and maintain meticulous records to support audit and compliance requirements. Additional duties include assisting with payroll reconciliations, ensuring adherence to legal and contractual obligations, and performing any other related tasks as required by organizational needs.
