About The Role
Sacré-Davey is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in mining to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams in the successful delivery of capital mining and mineral processing projects. This role involves overseeing projects throughout all phases - from initial concept studies and proposal development to detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning. As a key member of our project management team, you will work closely with clients to define project scope, develop execution strategies, and manage technical and commercial risks to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing mining and heavy industrial projects, including mineral processing facilities and related infrastructure, and will have a solid understanding of technical reporting standards such as NI 43-101. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence project outcomes in a dynamic environment dedicated to sustainability and innovation.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering disciplines such as Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Mining Engineering, complemented by over 15 years of proven experience managing large-scale capital projects in the mining or mineral processing sectors. Demonstrated success in overseeing projects valued up to $200 million TIC is essential, along with extensive experience supporting or managing technical study phases including Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS). Candidates should have strong familiarity with project controls, scheduling tools such as MS Project, budgeting, and cost forecasting. An understanding of NI 43-101 technical reports and the ability to act as a Qualified Person (QP) or work closely with Qualified Persons are highly desirable. Flexibility to travel to project sites and client locations as needed is required. Additional credentials such as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and experience with mineral processing plants or large industrial facilities will be considered assets.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams across engineering disciplines and geographic locations, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Establish comprehensive project plans, including objectives, risk management frameworks, schedules, and deliverables.
- Ensure the safe and successful delivery of projects within established timelines and budgets.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for project engineers and technical staff.
Technical Expertise
- Manage engineering delivery for both greenfield and brownfield mining and mineral processing projects.
- Support and oversee engineering scopes during technical studies such as PEA, PFS, FS, FEED, and detailed engineering phases.
- Develop scope definitions, cost estimates, and execution strategies during project proposal and study phases.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure engineering deliverables align with Sacré-Davey’s Quality Management System.
- Coordinate between various engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and technically sound project execution.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary liaison for clients, maintaining strong relationships through clear and proactive communication.
- Present project updates, technical reports, and strategic plans to clients and stakeholders effectively.
- Facilitate alignment among engineering teams, project sponsors, and external partners.
- Manage scope changes and client expectations with professionalism and transparency.
Compliance and Standards
- Ensure all projects adhere to relevant engineering codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct project phase reviews and incorporate lessons learned into ongoing and future projects.
- Provide technical oversight for NI 43-101 compliant studies and documentation, supporting technical review processes for sign-off as a Qualified Person when applicable.
Strategic Contributions
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, scope definition, and effort estimation.
- Identify opportunities for improving project execution methodologies and enhancing client satisfaction.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Sacré-Davey’s project management practices and standards.
- Foster long-term relationships with clients within the mining industry to promote repeat business and collaboration.
