Original job description

About The Company

Ecolab Inc. is a global provider of water, hygiene, and infection prevention solutions and services. Through its businesses and teams, Ecolab helps customers protect people and vital resources while supporting safe, clean, and efficient operations. CoolIT Systems, an Ecolab company, was founded in Calgary, Alberta, in 2001 and is a leading provider of direct liquid cooling technology for data centers, supercomputers, and desktop computers. Its solutions are designed and manufactured for use by major technology companies around the world.

CoolIT has earned recognition for its growth and innovation, including Financial Times recognition among “The Americas’ Fastest Growing Companies 2023” and Deloitte awards for technology and clean technology growth. With demand for generative AI, high-performance computing, and cloud services continuing to expand, the company offers an opportunity to contribute to technology that supports increasingly powerful computing systems.

About The Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Quality team, helping maintain product quality and customer satisfaction through thorough investigation, testing, and documentation. You will use strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify the causes of product failures and support effective corrective and preventive actions. Working with internal teams, external partners, and customers, you will help ensure that findings are communicated clearly and that product improvements are supported by reliable evidence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechatronics, electronics engineering technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
Three to five years of quality-related work experience.
Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Experience setting up and using data acquisition systems, sensors, and actuators is an asset.
Hands-on experience assembling and disassembling mechanical products and using common hand tools is preferred.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, inspection plans, quality control plans, and product specifications.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, extrusion, welding, additive manufacturing, and surface treatment is beneficial.
Experience with 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, bench equipment such as oscilloscopes and power analyzers, and testing electro-mechanical components or systems is an asset.
Knowledge of failure analysis, 8D reporting, and corrective and preventive action development is preferred.

Responsibilities

Investigate and troubleshoot product failures, using structured analysis to determine root causes.
Develop and execute test plans that produce useful, repeatable evidence for failure analysis.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to recommend, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs), 8D reports, and other quality documentation.
Provide customers with timely, clear technical updates about investigations and findings.
Design or improve test fixtures and software solutions to make testing more efficient and effective.
Document test methods, results, and recommendations so that conclusions can be understood and acted upon.

Benefits

Ecolab and CoolIT aim to provide a supportive workplace with opportunities for career development. Eligible employees can access vacation and flex days, along with a paid company-wide holiday-season shutdown. The comprehensive benefits package includes dental, prescription drug, vision, paramedical, and health spending coverage, with company-paid costs beginning on the first day. Additional offerings include a casual yet professional dress environment, company-funded RRSP contributions, and tenure-based retention rewards that may include additional vacation time and a monetary bonus.

Equal Opportunity

Ecolab Inc. is committed to fair and equal treatment of associates and applicants and to providing equal employment opportunities. Employment decisions, including recruitment, hiring, promotion, transfers, compensation, benefits, working conditions, and advancement, are based on individual qualifications and job performance. Ecolab does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, creed, national origin, citizenship status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, age, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law. Candidates selected to proceed may be required to complete background checks, including criminal record and education verification. We appreciate all applications; only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
