Founded in Calgary, Alberta, in 2001, CoolIT designs and manufactures cooling solutions used by major technology companies around the world. The company has earned recognition for its growth and innovation, including inclusion in the Financial Times list of The Americas’ Fastest Growing Companies and multiple Deloitte awards. As demand for generative AI, high-performance computing, and cloud services continues to expand, CoolIT is helping customers meet increasingly demanding technology and infrastructure needs.
About The Role
CoolIT is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its Quality team. In this role, you will investigate product failures, plan and conduct testing, and work with internal teams, external partners, and customers to support effective resolutions. Your technical judgment, attention to detail, and structured approach to problem-solving will help maintain product quality and customer satisfaction while contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.
You will analyze electro-mechanical products and systems, identify potential causes of failure, and document findings clearly. You will also help develop practical testing methods, fixtures, and software solutions that improve the speed and effectiveness of investigations. The position requires strong technical communication and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders throughout the corrective-action process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechatronics, electronics engineering technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Three to five years of quality-related work experience.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
- Strong written and spoken English skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and communicate with customers.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Experience setting up and using data acquisition systems, sensors, and actuators is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and disassembly, hand tools, and bench instruments such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers, and multimeters is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, inspection plans, quality-control documents, and product specifications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, extrusion, welding, additive manufacturing, and surface treatment is an advantage.
- Experience with 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks, and with electro-mechanical product testing and qualification is preferred.
- Troubleshoot product failures and conduct structured investigations to determine root causes.
- Develop and execute test plans that gather relevant evidence and support sound conclusions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to define and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs), 8D documentation, and other failure-analysis records.
- Provide customers with timely, clear technical updates on investigations, findings, and action plans.
- Design or improve test fixtures and software solutions to make testing more efficient and repeatable.
- Use engineering judgment and test data to support product-quality decisions and continuous improvement.

Eligible employees receive vacation and flex days, as well as a paid company-wide holiday shutdown.
