Original job description

About The Company

CoolIT Systems, an Ecolab company, is a leading provider of direct liquid cooling technology for data centers, supercomputers, and desktop computers. Founded in Calgary, Alberta, in 2001, CoolIT designs and manufactures cooling solutions used by major technology companies around the world. The company’s work supports the growing demand for generative AI, high-performance computing, and cloud services.

CoolIT has been recognized for its growth and innovation, including honors from the Financial Times and Deloitte. As part of Ecolab, CoolIT brings together a focus on engineering excellence, customer outcomes, and continuous improvement. Join a team of innovative professionals working to advance cooling technology for some of the world’s most demanding computing environments.

About The Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will help maintain product quality and customer satisfaction by investigating product failures and identifying effective solutions. You will plan and conduct testing, analyze results, and work with internal and external stakeholders to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Your findings will support clear technical communication with customers and ongoing improvements to products and processes.

This hands-on role is well suited to an engineer who combines analytical problem-solving with practical experience testing electromechanical products. You will also have opportunities to improve testing methods by developing fixtures and software solutions that help teams work efficiently.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechatronics, electronics engineering technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
Three to five years of quality-related work experience.
Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
Strong written and verbal English skills for technical documentation and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Experience setting up and using data acquisition systems, sensors, and actuators is preferred.
Practical mechanical assembly and disassembly skills, including competence with common hand tools, are preferred.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, inspection plans, quality-control plans, and product specifications.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, extrusion, welding, additive manufacturing, and surface treatment is an asset.
Experience with 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, bench instruments such as oscilloscopes and power analyzers, and testing electromechanical parts and systems is preferred.
Knowledge of failure analysis, 8D reporting, and corrective and preventive action development is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot product failures and evaluate potential causes using a structured, evidence-based approach.
Develop and execute test plans to identify root causes and verify findings.
Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and other external stakeholders on corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare nonconformance reports and 8D documentation to communicate failure analysis, conclusions, and recommended actions.
Provide customers with timely, clear technical updates throughout the failure-analysis process.
Design or improve test fixtures and software solutions to make testing more efficient and repeatable.
Document test methods and results accurately, and contribute to continuous product and process improvement.

Benefits

CoolIT aims to provide an environment where employees can grow their careers and contribute to an innovative, collaborative culture. The benefits package includes vacation and flex days, as well as a paid company-wide holiday shutdown. Comprehensive health coverage includes dental, prescription drugs, vision, paramedical services, and a health spending account, with coverage starting on the first day of employment.

Additional offerings include a casual yet professional dress environment, company-funded RRSP contributions, and retention rewards that may provide additional vacation time and a monetary bonus. Candidates selected for the position may be required to complete background checks, including criminal record and education checks. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Equal Opportunity

Ecolab Inc. is committed to fair and equal treatment of associates and applicants and to advancing equal employment opportunity. Employment decisions, including recruitment, hiring, promotion, transfers, compensation, benefits, working conditions, and advancement, are based on individual qualifications and job performance. Ecolab does not discriminate against applicants or associates on the basis of race, religion, color, creed, national origin, citizenship status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, age, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law.
