About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Western Excellence Center AI and Transformation Delivery team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence solutions that directly impact our organization’s operations, client experience, and risk management. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to translate complex business needs into innovative data science solutions, utilizing the latest technologies and methodologies. Your expertise will support the bank’s strategic initiatives by designing models, implementing best practices, and ensuring operational excellence in data science projects.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, or a related field, complemented by 3 to 5 years of experience in delivering production-level analytics or machine learning solutions. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Rust, JavaScript, C, C++, SAS, or R is essential, along with experience working with relational databases. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data wrangling, preprocessing, visualization, and ETL processes, with familiarity with platforms like SAS Viya or equivalent. Practical knowledge of model management, CI/CD pipelines, source control, containerization, orchestration, and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure is required. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Frame high-impact analytics and AI mandates by engaging with partners to understand business needs and translating them into actionable data science solutions.
- Design, develop, validate, and deploy machine learning, statistical, and generative AI models, including large language models and retrieval-augmented generation techniques.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model experimentation, communicating insights and recommendations clearly to support strategic decision-making.
- Implement comprehensive model lifecycle practices, including deployment, monitoring, issue resolution, performance tracking, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Establish and promote best practices, standards, reusable patterns, and documentation practices for models, data lineage, assumptions, and AI processes.
- Support delivery activities such as planning, testing, troubleshooting, demonstrations, training, and knowledge transfer to facilitate adoption of new tools and methodologies by teams.
