At Intact Financial, we are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where innovation and dedication drive our success. Our company values integrity, customer focus, and excellence, which are reflected in our approach to delivering high-quality insurance solutions and services. We believe that a diverse workforce enhances our ability to serve our clients effectively and to grow sustainably. Our commitment to social responsibility and community engagement underscores our mission to make a positive impact beyond business.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Developer to join our expanding technology team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative software solutions that support our core business operations. As a senior member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing system requirements, designing technical solutions, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality code. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, business analysts, and other developers, to translate business needs into robust technical specifications. Your expertise will help optimize our systems, improve performance, and enhance user experiences across various platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in full-stack development, with the ability to handle complex programming tasks and support the entire software development lifecycle. This position requires a proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. You will also be expected to mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5-8 years of full-stack software development experience is required, demonstrating a solid understanding of modern programming languages, frameworks, and development tools. Experience with GenAI development is considered an asset, reflecting our focus on innovative AI-driven solutions.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize complex data are essential. Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and resilience in a fast-paced environment. Bilingualism in English and French is required for candidates based in Quebec, given the need to communicate effectively with colleagues across Canada. Eligibility to work in Canada is mandatory, although Canadian work experience is not a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive analyses of system and coding needs to identify issues and propose effective solutions, including detailed program specifications.
Develop, modify, test, and debug software applications in accordance with project plans and deadlines, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Gain a thorough understanding of the technical and business aspects of our systems to facilitate effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into precise technical specifications and software components, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Organize and manage production sessions, ensuring smooth deployment and implementation of software solutions.
Design and model complex programmatic solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
Conduct code and design reviews to maintain high quality and ensure best practices are followed.
Develop and support complex software components, providing technical expertise and guidance as needed.
Support and mentor team members during development activities to uphold quality standards and meet project deadlines.
Create comprehensive unit and integration tests for all developed functions to ensure reliability and performance.
Implement regression testing strategies to enhance application stability and minimize defects.
Provide ongoing support and maintenance for applications, resolving complex anomalies and ensuring system robustness.

Benefits

At Intact Financial, we believe in offering a comprehensive and flexible benefits package that supports our employees’ physical, mental, and financial well-being. Our employees enjoy flexible work arrangements and a hybrid work model that promotes work-life balance. Our benefits include telemedicine services, wellness accounts, and various programs aimed at promoting health and wellness. Employees are also eligible to participate in our share plan and savings programs, which can provide up to 12% of their salary or more, with opportunities to earn guaranteed income for life through our defined benefit pension plan. Our annual bonus plan offers a target payout of 12%, with the potential to double the bonus based on individual and company performance. We also support long-term security through our pension offerings, emphasizing our commitment to our employees’ future.
