About The Role
BMO is seeking a technology professional to help deliver high-quality software applications and services. In this role, you will contribute across the software development lifecycle, transforming business and user requirements into technical specifications, software features, and reliable solutions. You will work with functional partners and development teams on system design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.
You will apply your knowledge of algorithms, data structures, programming languages, cloud technologies, and software engineering practices to solve business problems. The role also supports secure, scalable, and well-performing systems by applying standards for security, observability, logging, error handling, and non-functional requirements. This position is based at 5750 Explorer Drive. The application deadline is November 15, 2026.
Responsibilities
Interpret user and client needs, clarify requirements, and translate them into technical designs and specifications. Analyze, develop, test, document, and implement software programs, maintaining clear records throughout the software development lifecycle. Support system design and provide technical advice on security and integration requirements.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve faults in systems and core software components. Ensure code and configurations meet applicable security, performance, logging, error-handling, and quality standards. Follow release management practices and version-control procedures.
Assess emerging technologies for their suitability, considering effects on connected systems, processes, data, and risk. Provide specialized technical, analytical, and consulting support; use sound judgment to diagnose and address routine and non-routine challenges; and collaborate across teams to deliver dependable outcomes. Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework, policies, standards, procedures, and applicable laws when making decisions and protecting the bank’s assets.
Qualifications
Typically, candidates bring five to seven years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Deep technical knowledge developed through education and practical experience is expected.
Relevant strengths include software design, process automation, cloud computing, microservices, business requirements definition and analysis, systems integration, quality assurance, and testing. You should bring adaptability, learning agility, strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a data-informed approach to decisions.
Experience with AWS, AWS CDK, observability, machine learning, Salesforce, and Python is valuable. Familiarity with system design, secure development practices, and the delivery of maintainable technology solutions is also beneficial.

The anticipated annual salary range is $70,000 to $150,000, with salaried pay. Compensation varies based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. BMO’s total compensation may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other rewards, depending on the position. Benefits may include health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans. Part-time salaries are prorated according to regularly scheduled hours. For commission-based roles, the stated amount represents the expected first-year target.
