Original job description
About The Company
NPA WorldWide is presenting an opportunity for an engineering professional to contribute to industrial and manufacturing capital projects in Leamington, Ontario. The organization is seeking someone with practical experience delivering projects in operating environments, where sound engineering judgment, attention to safety and quality, and disciplined financial management are essential. This role is focused on the successful execution and ongoing improvement of capital projects, rather than project administration alone.
About The Role
The Capital Projects professional will manage selected projects ranging in value from $50,000 to $5 million, from initial definition through commissioning and start-up. You will develop clear project scopes, coordinate technical inputs, and work with internal stakeholders and external consultants to ensure each project is properly planned and delivered. Throughout execution, you will monitor schedule, spending, scope, and outcomes, while communicating progress to project stakeholders and the Executive Team.
This position is suited to an engineer with hands-on industrial or manufacturing experience and a background managing capital projects. It is not intended for candidates whose experience is limited to project coordination, IT project management, or construction-only work. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across the project lifecycle and contributing both technical and business-focused insight.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is preferred. Candidates should bring five to seven years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, along with previous project management experience. Relevant experience should demonstrate the ability to define project requirements, coordinate engineering and consultant resources, oversee execution, and manage cost and scope effectively.
Strong communication and reporting skills are important, including the ability to explain project status, challenges, and recommendations to a range of stakeholders. The role also calls for sound planning, problem-solving, organization, and judgment, as well as a commitment to documenting results and applying lessons learned. Candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively with teams involved in project design, supervision, commissioning, and start-up.
Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of selected capital projects, from project definition and planning through implementation, commissioning, and start-up. Prepare scope of work documents that establish the design basis, major equipment specifications, and control requirements. Engage and coordinate outside consultants when needed to support appropriate project definition and delivery.
Oversee project supervision, commissioning, and start-up activities, working with relevant teams to support a controlled transition into operation. Track financial performance throughout execution, maintain budgetary discipline, and manage scope changes in a clear and effective manner. Provide recurring project status reports to key stakeholders and the Executive Team, highlighting progress, risks, decisions, and relevant updates.
Document project outcomes, lessons learned, best practices, and recommendations that can inform future work. Identify opportunities to improve project delivery and participate in developing and implementing best practices. Contribute to short-term, one-year planning and long-term capital plans covering a three- to five-year horizon. Perform other related duties as required.
Benefits
This opportunity is based in Leamington, Ontario, and offers an annual salary of CAD $100,000 to $120,000. The role provides the opportunity to lead a varied portfolio of industrial and manufacturing capital projects, contribute to longer-range investment planning, and help strengthen project execution practices. Additional benefits were not specified in the available role information.
Equal Opportunity
NPA WorldWide is committed to fair and equitable hiring. Applicants will be considered based on their qualifications, experience, and ability to meet the requirements of the role. Employment decisions should be made without discrimination and in accordance with applicable laws. Candidates who require accommodation during the recruitment process are encouraged to communicate their needs.
