About The Company
Jetson Home is dedicated to transforming the way homes across North America utilize energy by promoting sustainable and electric solutions. Our mission is to accelerate the transition of 100 million homes away from fossil fuels, fostering a cleaner, more efficient future. We recognize that residential homes are significant contributors to carbon emissions, yet adoption of energy-efficient technologies like heat pumps remains slow due to high costs and complexity. To address this, Jetson Home has established itself as the first fully vertically integrated home electrification company, making clean energy solutions simple, transparent, and affordable for homeowners. Leveraging advanced technology, automation, and data analytics, we aim to scale our impact and make sustainable energy accessible to all. At Jetson Home, we value professionals who excel in their craft, are curious about emerging tools - including AI - and are motivated to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
About The Role
As a Jetson System Designer, you will play a pivotal role in translating signed customer agreements into actionable, installable plans. Your primary responsibility will be to guide homeowners through virtual walkthroughs of their residences, validate system sizing and electrical capacities, and produce comprehensive installation plans. These plans are crucial in ensuring that installation teams are well-prepared, permits are secured, and projects are completed efficiently within a single day. This role involves collaborating closely with customers, project coordinators, and operational teams to ensure seamless project execution. Your work will span across the US and Canada, contributing directly to the success of Jetson Home's mission to make home electrification effortless and accessible. Reporting to the Director of Customer Operations, you will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a results-driven and detail-oriented mindset, with a proven track record of delivering actionable plans that are successfully executed. Candidates must have a solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical fundamentals, including how heat pumps perform in cold climates. Experience with residential load calculations such as Manual J (US) or CSA F280 (Canada), along with working knowledge of residential electrical systems, is essential. Excellent communication skills in English - confident, friendly, and empathetic - are required for effective interactions over phone, email, or video calls. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, with a passion for getting details right and a genuine enthusiasm for clean energy initiatives. A minimum of three years’ experience in HVAC design, technical documentation, mechanical engineering, or related fields is preferred. Familiarity with CRM systems like HubSpot or Salesforce, and comfort working in startup or growth-stage environments, will be advantageous. Bonus points are awarded for field experience in HVAC installation or servicing, and familiarity with permitting, building departments, or HOA/Strata approvals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual walkthroughs of customer sites using online meeting tools, capturing detailed photos and data markers necessary for calculations, site mapping, and materials planning.

- Calculate electrical loads in compliance with local electrical codes (NEC or Canadian Electrical Code), including demonstrated load calculations to verify panel capacity and identify necessary upgrades.
- Create detailed installation and site plans, including unit locations, panel placement, and lineset routing, designed to facilitate a one-day installation process with customer approval secured beforehand.
- Coordinate with local authorities (AHJs) to secure permits, handle approval processes, and prepare necessary HOA/Strata documentation where applicable.
- Maintain continuous communication and alignment with Customer Success teams, Project Coordinators, and Operations to ensure smooth project progression.
