Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Mechanical Package Engineer in the Engineering consulting industry in Mississauga, Ontario.
The Mechanical Package Engineer oversees the technical development, procurement, vendor management, and delivery of mechanical equipment packages for mining, metals, energy, and industrial projects. Working within a multidisciplinary EPCM team, the role serves as the primary technical lead for assigned packages throughout the project lifecycle, from design and procurement to fabrication, installation, and commissioning. Success in this role requires strong expertise in mechanical equipment, procurement processes, vendor management, and equipment integration on large-scale EPCM projects.

A typical day:
- Lead assigned mechanical equipment packages from specification through commissioning.
- Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets, requisitions, and scope of supply documents.
- Evaluate vendor bids, lead technical clarifications, and support equipment selection and award.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, calculations, manufacturing documents, and deliverables.
- Develop equipment design criteria, perform sizing/selection, and support package engineering.
- Coordinate package interfaces with process, piping, structural, electrical, controls, and construction teams.
- Support procurement, inspections, FATs, shop testing, installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Monitor package budgets, schedules, risks, quality, and safety compliance, providing regular progress updates.
Successful candidates will have:
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering. P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration.
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in EPCM, consulting, mining, metals, energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial or OEM projects.
- Experience managing mechanical equipment packages through engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, crushers, mills, conveyors, agitators, and material handling systems.
- Experience reviewing vendor documentation, conducting technical bid evaluations, and supporting procurement activities.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with engineering software and systems such as PV Elite, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SmartPlant, Plant 3D, Bentley, or equivalent tools.
- Site construction, commissioning, and start-up experience.
