Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Superintendent, Geology, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Manage the geology team, directing workflow and planning for the different workforce needs while ensuring proper levels of efficiency and productivity;
- Propose in collaboration with the exploration and the technical services departments exploration, conversion and delineation drilling programs or any specific program required;
- Plan, propose, recommend and follow-up budgets (yearly and life of mine) for the geology department;
- Ensure proper reporting of the different geology activities (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly);
- Contribute to economic preliminary studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, coordinating the work of your team with the work of other disciplines and producing technical reports;
- Provide and coordinate technical support in geology to operations for the open pit and underground development.
- Assess, organize and approve the required departmental trainings;
- Keep your department at the forefront of new technologies, following the best practices in the mining industry;
- Respect and promote the standards of the company and the governmental policies and regulations at play.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
- 10 years of experience in a similar role, in underground mining, open pit production and mine explorations programs for gold projects.
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, ( Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint ) and technical software ( Deswik, Datamine, Leapfrog ).
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest (Monday to Thursday);
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
