Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, you will be part of the Engineering Department – Underground Operations. You will be responsible for generating optimized long-term mining plans for the Detour Underground Operation. You will liaise between the Corporate Study Technical team and Detour Technical and Mine Operations departments regarding all production-related activities.
You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture & Code of conduct, maintaining a high Health & Safety standard, all in respect of the environment, the work procedures in place & the industry’s good practices.
- Perform scenario analysis to determine an optimized mining strategy, including review mining methods and LOM infrastructure;
- Development Life of Mine (LOM) mining plans and collaborate with the finance department to generate reliable cost forecasting;
- Prepare summary presentations of evaluations to gain stakeholder support and communicate LOM strategy;
- Support the mining aspects of the MRMR process;
- Support the Corporate Study team by participating in mining reviews as the Mine Operations representative and providing feedback from an operational context;
- Compare annual performance trends against study benchmarks and evaluate impacts of variance on physicals;
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in safety and productivity;
- Other tasks as required by the Engineering Superintendent to support.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, or equivalent;
- 10+ years of experience in underground mining with at least 5 years’ experience in mine design;
- Eligibility for Professional Engineering designation in the Province of Ontario;
- Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- Knowledge of Deswik.CAD and Deswik.IS required;
- Must be able to work independently and within a team structure;
- Ability to effectively prioritize job duties and work in a fast-paced environment;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and a positive attitude;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, 4-3 or 5-2 schedule either remotely, at one of our Regional Offices or at our Upper Beaver Gold Project in Dobie, ON. Periodic site visits are required.
