Original job description
Ahria Consulting is delighted to partner with Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario in their search for a new Chief Executive Officer.
Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario builds more than homes. Since 1993, the organization has helped individuals and families across six Southwestern Ontario counties build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. Its work is supported by donors, volunteers, corporate partners and community organizations, along with five ReStores across the region.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic, financial and operational leadership while building on the strategic planning already underway. You will help shape the organization’s evolving priorities, strengthen its financial and organizational capacity, and assess opportunities for new initiatives that align with Habitat’s mission and expand its community impact.
As a visible external leader and steward of the Habitat brand, you will strengthen relationships with government, community and housing partners, funders and donors, while advancing advocacy and communications in support of Habitat’s mission and priorities.
Who We’re Looking For
You are a grounded, forward-looking leader who pairs strategic thinking with sound execution. Collaborative and transparent, you build trust, bring people together around shared priorities and empower others to succeed. You lead with humility and curiosity, value different perspectives and bring a genuine willingness to listen and learn.
You are equally comfortable working with a Board, leading senior professionals and representing an organization externally. Most importantly, you are motivated by purpose and the opportunity to strengthen communities.
You Bring
- Relevant graduate education or equivalent education and executive experience; advanced qualifications an asset.
- Progressive senior leadership in comparably complex operations, finances and stakeholder environments.
- Business and financial acumen spanning budgets, controls, risk and long-term planning.
- Effective Board partnerships and sound governance knowledge.
- Relationship-building across government, community, industry and non-profit sectors.
- Success building support and revenue through fundraising, donor relations, sponsorship, business development or diversification.
- Multidisciplinary team leadership that empowers senior leaders around shared goals.
- Exposure to non-profit, charitable, housing, community services, social enterprise or other mission-driven work an asset.
- Housing, land acquisition, construction, social enterprise or ReStore knowledge helpful, not essential; transferable leadership and operational credentials matter.
Why Join Habitat for Humanity Heartland?
This is an opportunity to lead with purpose and build lasting impact, helping shape the future of a mission-driven organization while working alongside a committed Board, team, volunteers and community partners to advance affordable homeownership and strengthen communities across Southwestern Ontario.
If Habitat for Humanity Heartland’s mission aligns with your values and experience, find out more information here. If you’re already “all in”, we would welcome you to submit a cover letter and resume in a single document to recruiting@ahria.ca
