Original job description

Being part of Air Canada is to become part of an iconic Canadian symbol, recently ranked the best Airline in North America. Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.

Digital Production is looking for a creative and experienced Digital Copywriter to own the development and delivery of customer-facing content across Air Canada promotional digital communications.

In this role, you will lead copy development for web and other digital touchpoints, translating complex business and promotional information into clear, concise and engaging customer messaging. You will be accountable for content quality from initial requirements through final delivery, ensuring every communication is customer focused, effective and consistent with Air Canada’s brand voice, accessibility standards and digital best practices.

You will manage multiple content assignments and serve as a trusted content partner to Marketing, designers, translation and other cross-functional teams. You will bring a clear point of view, recommend stronger content approaches and help shape communications that are relevant today and ready for more personalized digital experiences tomorrow.

Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end development, editing, proofreading and delivery of promotional content for web and other digital customer touchpoints.
Lead copy development for sales, product, route and destination launches, international campaigns and other promotional initiatives.
Take accountability for the clarity, accuracy, consistency and effectiveness of content across an assigned portfolio.
Translate complex business and promotional information into simple, meaningful and customer-focused messaging.
Adapt content for different audiences, markets, channels and customer needs while maintaining a consistent brand experience.
Manage multiple content assignments from initial requirements and stakeholder alignment through approvals and final delivery.
Serve as the content point of contact for partners, proactively identifying risks, resolving content questions and recommending better approaches.
Ensure content follows Air Canada’s brand voice, digital accessibility requirements, legal and regulatory direction, and digital writing best practices.
Apply search engine optimization best practices to relevant web content and improve content findability.
Collaborate closely with Marketing, designers, translation and other partner teams to shape and review customer-facing content.
Own or coordinate translation requirements and help maintain consistency across languages and markets.
Identify opportunities to improve content standards, workflows, governance and the overall effectiveness of digital communications.
Research industry benchmarks, customer expectations and evolving content practices to strengthen messaging direction and support future personalized experiences.
Advocate for customer needs and Air Canada’s brand voice throughout the content-development process.

Bachelor’s or other similar degree in writing, journalism, literature or a related field, and a minimum of 4 years of copywriting/editing experience in a digital environment (web, mobile, shopping channels and similar applications)
Excellent digital writing, editing and proofreading skills, with strong grammar, spelling and attention to detail.
Experience owning content development in digital environments such as web, mobile, e-commerce or email.
Ability to absorb complex information, exercise sound judgement and translate it into simple, customer-focused communications.
Ability to establish a clear content recommendation, explain the rationale and influence partners toward a stronger customer outcome.
Ability to adapt messaging for different audiences, markets and digital channels.
Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices and the ability to write content optimized for search.
Strong understanding of digital accessibility and accessible content-writing practices.
Strong understanding of customer-focused digital content and promotional communications.
Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders and deadlines.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge unclear requirements and recommend solutions.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and remain accountable for outcomes while contributing to a cross-functional team.
Curiosity about personalization, automation and evolving digital customer experiences.

Experience with any of the following would be an asset:

Promotional or e-commerce copywriting.
Email marketing and lifecycle communications.
Multilingual or translated content.
Visual content, mock-ups and customer flows.
Workfront, Jira and Microsoft products.
The airline industry, Air Canada’s digital portfolio, or e-commerce and retail platforms.
What will make this person successful

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, makes thoughtful content decisions and follows work through to completion. You understand that great digital copy goes beyond writing well: it requires understanding the customer, the business objective, the channel, the context and the action we want the customer to take.

You are collaborative and practical, but you also bring a clear point of view. You are comfortable asking questions, resolving ambiguity and recommending a better direction when content can be simpler, more useful or more effective. You balance day-to-day delivery with a forward-looking mindset, helping Air Canada create communications that are increasingly consistent, relevant and personalized.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made and are responsible for obtaining any required work permits, visas, or other authorizations necessary for employment. Prior to their start date, candidates will also need to provide proof of their eligibility to work in the country of interest.

Linguistic Requirements

Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual candidates.

Diversity and Inclusion

Air Canada is strongly committed to Diversity and Inclusion and aims to create a healthy, accessible and rewarding work environment which highlights employees’ unique contributions to our company’s success.

As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applications from all to help us build a diverse workforce which reflects the diversity of our customers, and communities, in which we live and serve.

Air Canada thanks all candidates for their interest; however only those selected to continue in the process will be contacted.
