Original job description

Being part of Air Canada is to become part of an iconic Canadian symbol, recently ranked the best Airline in North America. Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.

We are looking for a Digital Experience Developer to join the Digital Production team and take ownership of the development and delivery of promotional digital experiences across email, web and an expanding range of customer channels.

This role combines hands-on development, collaboration and continuous improvement. The developer will lead the technical execution of promotional email and web campaigns, while helping shape more connected, personalized and reusable digital experiences across channels and future customer touchpoints.

Working closely with partner teams, the developer will bring technical expertise and a strong point of view, identifying opportunities to improve how content, customer data, personalization and technology come together to create more relevant and scalable promotional experiences.

Responsibilities:

Own the end-to-end development, testing and delivery of responsive promotional emails, landing pages and web experiences.
Lead technical execution for route, product and destination promotions, international campaigns, sales and other promotional initiatives.
Take accountability for the quality, reliability, accessibility, performance and maintainability of solutions across an assigned portfolio
Create, maintain and evolve reusable templates, modules and front-end components that can support multiple campaigns, customer touchpoints and channels.
Own the development and maintenance of promotional experiences, including fare grids and other structured or dynamic content.
Develop personalization and dynamic-content solutions based on customer, campaign and contextual requirements.
Contribute development expertise to promotional experiences across email, web and an expanding range of digital channels.
Serve as a technical point of contact for partners, proactively identifying risks, resolving technical questions and recommending better approaches when a solution can be simpler, more scalable or more effective.
Collaborate with partner teams to explore, prototype and validate new promotional digital experiences.
Identify opportunities for automation and contribute to the design, development, testing and improvement of tools
that make digital production more efficient.
Provide technical direction and practical recommendations that support the evolution of Digital Production tools, standards and workflows.
Ensure development meets accessibility, quality, security, performance and coding standards.
Troubleshoot technical issues and lead or participate in testing, validation, peer reviews and production-readiness checks.
Document reusable solutions and share technical knowledge to strengthen consistency and capability across the team.
Advocate for customer needs, technical quality and sustainable development practices throughout the delivery process.

University degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in digital development, with demonstrated ownership of web and/or email solutions from development through delivery.
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage simultaneous deliverables and shifting priorities under tight deadlines.
Ability to develop clean, maintainable, reusable and well-documented code.
Experience developing and testing across browsers, email clients, platforms and mobile devices.
Strong understanding of digital accessibility standards and practices.
Knowledge of APIs, structured data and system integrations.
Experience with component-based development and reusable design approaches.
Experience with debugging, performance optimization, quality assurance and technical validation.
Experience working with content management systems and digital publishing workflows.
Understanding of personalization, dynamic content and marketing technology concepts.
Ability to assess technical requirements, recommend an approach and explain technical decisions clearly to different audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to question unclear requirements and propose practical solutions.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and remain accountable for outcomes while contributing to a cross-functional team.
Curiosity about automation, personalization and evolving digital customer experiences.

Experience with any of the following would be an asset:

AirTRFX
Adobe Campaign Classic (ACC)
Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO)
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
Adobe Workfront, Jira
TypeScript and Node.js
Angular, Vue.js or similar front-end frameworks
APIs and system integrations
Dynamic and personalized content
Cross-channel or omnichannel digital experiences

What will make this person successful

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, makes thoughtful technical decisions and follows work through to completion. You understand that a strong digital experience goes beyond writing functional code: it requires understanding the customer, the campaign objective, the channel, the operational context and how the solution will be maintained and reused.

You are collaborative and practical, but you also bring a clear technical point of view. You are comfortable asking questions, resolving ambiguity and recommending a better direction when a solution can be more accessible, reliable, reusable or efficient. You balance day-to-day campaign delivery with a forward-looking mindset, helping Air Canada build increasingly connected, personalized and scalable promotional experiences.

Automation, personalization and new-channel development are shared efforts. You will contribute technical leadership and hands-on development expertise while working closely with the team and its partners to turn ideas into practical, reusable solutions.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made and are responsible for obtaining any required work permits, visas, or other authorizations necessary for employment. Prior to their start date, candidates will also need to provide proof of their eligibility to work in the country of interest.

Linguistic Requirements

Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual candidates.

Diversity and Inclusion

Air Canada is strongly committed to Diversity and Inclusion and aims to create a healthy, accessible and rewarding work environment which highlights employees’ unique contributions to our company’s success.

As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applications from all to help us build a diverse workforce which reflects the diversity of our customers, and communities, in which we live and serve.

Air Canada thanks all candidates for their interest; however only those selected to continue in the process will be contacted.
