Environmental Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to support a portfolio of environmental remediation, reclamation, decommissioning, and compliance-related projects across operating assets in Alberta. This role is ideal for a hands-on environmental professional who combines strong project management skills with practical field experience and a solid understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing environmental projects from planning through execution, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This position will work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support environmental stewardship and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage environmental remediation, reclamation, decommissioning, and compliance projects across multiple sites.
- Develop project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and execution plans.
- Coordinate and oversee environmental consultants, contractors, and service providers.
- Track project budgets, timelines, deliverables, and key performance indicators.
- Support environmental compliance programs related to water, waste, soil, vegetation, and site management activities.
- Ensure environmental work is completed in accordance with applicable regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Liaise with operations, land, health and safety, supply chain, and environmental teams to support project execution.
- Review technical reports, regulatory submissions, and project documentation.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is executed safely and efficiently.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- 8-10 years of environmental consulting and project management experience, with a strong focus on remediation and reclamation projects.
- Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Agrology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing environmental projects, consultants, budgets, and schedules.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements in Western Canada, particularly Alberta.
- Experience working with remediation, reclamation, soil management, water management, waste management, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Field experience and practical understanding of environmental operations are considered strong assets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation such as P.Geo., P.Ag., P.Bio., or P.Chem.
- Experience supporting decommissioning, closure, liability reduction, or land reclamation programs.
- Knowledge of Alberta regulatory frameworks and environmental reporting requirements.
