We are currently looking for Operations Technician to support our offshore operations in Newfoundland! The Operations Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of offshore production systems and associated equipment on the Hebron offshore platform. The role supports production targets by monitoring, operating, inspecting, and maintaining process systems while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and HSSE requirements. The Operations Technician contributes to asset integrity, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on personnel safety and environmental stewardship.

What will you be doing?

• Operate and monitor oil production, water injection, utility, and process systems in accordance with approved operating procedures.
• Conduct routine inspections of process equipment, vessels, pumps, compressors, valves, and associated systems.
• Monitor plant performance through distributed control systems (DCS) and field verification of operating parameters.
• Respond effectively to process alarms, equipment malfunctions, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Perform first-line troubleshooting and assist maintenance personnel during equipment isolation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Execute operational tasks associated with permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and energy isolation processes.
• Support production optimization initiatives to maximize uptime and operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and shift handover documentation.
• Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and training exercises.
• Ensure compliance with offshore safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
• Promote a positive safety culture by identifying hazards, reporting incidents, and exercising Stop Work Authority when required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational risk assessments.
  
  

We Think You Should Have

• Process Operations Technician Diploma, Power Engineering Certification, or equivalent technical education.
• 5 years of processing plant experience (required)
• Emergency Response Team experience
• All mandatory training outlined in the CAPP Standard Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Offshore Personnel
• As outlined in CAPP medical requirements including fitness for offshore work
• Strong knowledge of offshore oil production and processing systems.
• Understanding separation, compression, gas handling, produced water treatment, utilities, and injection systems.
• Ability to safely operate and monitor automated process control systems and DCS interfaces.
• Working knowledge of the Distributed Control System (DCS), Emergency Control System (ECS), and Fire & Gas System (FGS), considered a strong asset
• Knowledge of process safety fundamentals, barrier management, and asset integrity principles.
• Experience conducting equipment inspections, field rounds, and operational troubleshooting.
• Understanding of permit-to-work systems and safe work practices.
• Familiarity with operational isolation procedures and energy control processes.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, operating procedures, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary offshore team.
• Ability to prioritize activities in a dynamic operational environment.
• Previous offshore production operations experience is considered an asset.
• Experience in offshore oil and gas production facilities, FPSOs, or fixed platforms preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Distributed Control System (DCS), Emergency Control System (ECS), and Fire & Gas System (FGS), considered a strong asset
