Job Opportunity

Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our operations team:

Geotechnical Engineer

Alamos Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer with a long-term track record of creating value for all stakeholders through solid financial performance, low-cost production growth, and a company-wide commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. We currently operate three mines – two in Canada and one in Mexico – and we have a strong portfolio of development stage projects, including the Lynn Lake Project and Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion in Canada, and Puerto Del Aire Project in Mexico. Alamos also has an early-stage exploration project in Canada, the Qiqavik Gold Project. Our core values of safety, teamwork, environmental sustainability, integrity, and commitment allow our more than 1,900 dedicated team members to thrive in their careers and to create a lasting legacy that benefits all Alamos stakeholders.

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

If you are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability, we would like to hear from you!

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Safe and Sustainable Mining!

Are you passionate about geotechnical engineering and underground mining? Do you thrive in a dynamic, safety-focused environment where your expertise plays a critical role in operational success? If you are an experienced engineering professional who excels in ground control, data analysis, and problem-solving, we want you on our team!

Role Overview

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the safety and stability of underground mining operations at the Young-Davidson Mine. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation and management of the Ground Control Management Program (GCMP).

Geotechnical Engineering: Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical data to support mine design and ground support decisions.
Mine Planning Support: Review stope and pillar design criteria to ensure geotechnical considerations are incorporated into mine plans.
Ground Monitoring: Monitor ground response to mining activities and rehabilitation programs to identify and mitigate geotechnical risks.
Seismic Analysis: Monitor and interpret micro seismic system data to support operational safety and post-blast re-entry assessments.
Training & Compliance: Conduct ground control assessments and training activities with underground personnel while supporting audit, review, and quality assurance programs.

What You Bring to the Table

Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
Postgraduate degree in Rock Mechanics is considered an asset.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Minimum two years of experience in underground mining operations with a focus on ground control.
Experience working in seismically active mines and with microseismic monitoring systems is considered an asset.
Experience with Deswik, Vulcan, or similar mine planning software.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Passion for mining safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Why Join Us?

Be part of an organization that values safety, integrity, accountability, and teamwork.
Play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient underground mining operations.
Work alongside experienced technical professionals and industry leaders.
Access ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits package.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.
Work Environment: Underground mining operation with both office and underground-based responsibilities.
